Found this today.....     A half penny. Nothing special but one of my first coin finds so I'm chuffed to bits. Using my new garrett ace 250 can't wait to get back out with it.

Seriously Dave. it`s addictive as hell once you start finding stuff.

All of a sudden, meaningless tat becomes ancient buried treasure ! :laugh:

 

I'm sure it is once you start finding stuff, but there's only so many nails I can find before the novelty wore off.

Eric Lawes,old guy who died last year,the legend goes he was going into town to get some golf clubs as he was on the very of retiring and wanted a hobby to keep himself occupied,he saw a mate of his with a metal detector so after a chat and a demo he thought f**k the golf,its the ruination of a good walk,as mark twain said,so he bought a machine,first time out a farmer asked him to search a field for a hammer that had fallen off his tractor,the hammer is in the british museum........as is most of the estimated 10 million pound treasure he found while looking for it.

I'm dying to get back into metal detecting and this thread was a kick up the arse. Funily enough I took my young nephews out today finding some choclate coins I hid earlier It was good fun. Looking at getting a garett 250 in the new year.
