thats how i entered my dog (legal here in NI) he was slipped on his own at a week or 2 before his 2nd birthday which is also the start of my hunting season sept/oct , he gave the fox some run turning

My first bitch was entered at 18 months, i knew she was well bred and had the pedigree to take foxes, but you never know until the job is completed,, even if the dog was to attack the fox and feel the

You got more chance of making a dog at 2yr old when he's fully developed mentally, physically & had a season of rabbiting under its belt than you will at 12 months old that hasn't seen much & h

daytime danny

would be a bit different at night bud fox would be alot sharper for a dog at that age  but the right way to start then day time

Why would a fox be harder at night???

They don't bite harder or faster do they, they run different but once its caught its the same animal whether its day or night.

what i mean if its after being dug the terrier would have taken a bit of wind out of him plus if hounds have run him for a bit. at night he is a bit fresher as he would not have been under the same pressure as in during the day

I would wait untill the dog was at least 18months old if it was a bit older at the start of the season all the better and if i could let it watch an adult do a few at the end of the last season great. The one thing i would never do to get it going was double it up imo its asking for disaster.

he was slipped on his own at a week or 2 before his 2nd birthday which is also the start of my hunting season sept/oct , he gave the fox some run turning it half a dozen times before striking as the fox tried to go through the hedge , being the first dog ive brought on from a pup to take fox it was all heart stopping stuff to watch and wonder if he was going to do it or not
