  1. Here lies the problem with your argument. Do you want animals to behave like people or people to behave as animals? This argument is based on the idea that an animal must have a sense of its self to 'deserve' rights and that simply isn't the case. It is extremely pompous to think a wild animal loses it's rights simply because we believe it a 'lower' species. Get down from your pedestal and slum it with us lower life forms!!
  2. Property they may be under the eyes of the law, but that does not give right of such cruelty. Needless cruelty. This doesn't fall under the same category as culling IMO. This is an act of pure, mindless cruelty.
  3. tell them you want to take dog for a walk to see how he behaves with your own dogs etc, take him to a local park, run him with your dogs, see how he moves when running with them, and watch his behavior with them. keep your distance from him on an emotional level, think it through. recommend you sleep on it at that point and decide if hes for you the next day. also i wouldnt mention hunting. LL have no qualms with working homes. The right dog in the right home is their priority. But will not rehome to be kennelled out. since i didnt know which charity was rehomeing the dog, the a

  5. He isn't tattooed, and he isn't a full grey. And will probably never catch another bunny again unfortunately.
  6. Am sure it was you guys at the show. I took one of the litter mates of these. He is a cracking little pup. Very out going, not fazed by anything. Am well chuffed. Though I think you have your dates mixed up. From your other thread and the dates given, the pups are closer to nine weeks old now.
  7. Another thread for these pups? Are these the ones that were for sale at the show at Peover the other week?
  8. there was a mix of both ive kept a ruff one and so has the sire and my mate and a smooth bitch has gone Were these the pups for sale at the game fair at Peover t'other week?
  9. As others have said, crate him. Extra advice I can offer as well as what has already been said - if he barks, cries, howls while you are out of the room, leave for as long as you can. You don't want him getting too stressed, or neighbours becoming stressed either. Walk through the room, past the crate, let him see you but do not give any attention, no eye contact, no words. Sing to yourself or hum, but nothing towards the pup. Act busy on something else for a minute or so and leave the room again. It will help show him you are there but not responsive to his attention seeking. Other good
  10. Lots of threads on here for every sort of cross imaginable. But wondered what folks thought of working pure breeds? Wimpy whippets? Fragile Greys? Saw some pure Salukis rabbiting, was great to watch. And of course I have tried my Borzoi and was really chuffed with the result. Do the purebreeds have the substance now?
  11. You say you have wormed them. Are there any signs of worms present? Another dose could help if they have heavy worm burdens. Tripe is really good, but watch that, too much fat in the diet can be bad too. Watch the appearance of poos. If it lightens alot in colour and appears 'greasy' then cut back on the fat. Eggs, scrambled or raw, canned fish - sardines, pilchards, tuna.... Am a big fan of goats milk for pups, much prefer it to synthetic copies. You can buy it easily at supermarkets now, aim for full fat stuff. Weetabix is like rice, can be a good filler but no dietary substance, but eas
  12. Travellers were determined my Borzoi had EBT in the mix. Only breed the long nose could have come from. Or folks ask if she is a long coated grey. The saluki/grey is often mistaken as clever.
  13. There was a chap we met at one of the game shows who said he was on here. Had a stunning cream, saluki looking but broken coated hound. Made the jaw drop.
  14. Just thought I would make you feel more at home and add some nagging
  15. You working a Great Dane? Dogue de Bordeaux? Or maybe your lurcher needs to go on a diet?
  16. It was my Borzoi that suffered the dislocation. She was roughly the same age too when hers happened. It took her about 6 months to be completely back to her former self so you may be missing this coming season. With rebalancing, her movement actually improved and it didn't stop her in any way. You can see picks of her on her first ferreting outing somewhere on this board, that was after her dislocation. Don't rush it, take the time, and by next season everything should be back as it was.
  17. Found today, Wigan, Lancashire. Young black and white, possible grey x whip.
  18. Am not usually a fan of whippets, wimpy with no substance. But really like your brindle.
  19. thats hypocrite most rescues use kennels to house the dogs till they find homes They are all short of foster homes if you would like to give your time?
  20. Maybe a spell checker on the opening page would be of benefit to them.
  21. Why take a dog from a rescue if you aren't willing to follow the requirements? There are many lurchers available in many places without these restrictions.
  22. For every good, responsible owner, unfortunately - and the number of dogs across both sites demonstrate this - there are a dozen irresponsible. Rescues would like to see a reduction in these numbers. The numbers of dogs in rescue. Neutering is the only sure fire way to positively work towards this. Plus, it does help against theft. Something no one wants. Look through the site and see the number of dogs left dumped in horrid conditions. Ran ragged and then dumped. One mans junk is another mans treasure. Failed workers, injured ex workers/racers, unwanted litters. Some heart brea
