Borzoi were bred to take down wolf - their limbs being too long for coursing as we know it in Britain. But they were also bred for stamina. There speed really doesnt match that of a grey or whippet, but they were bred to run further with out tiring. A short run like that niether shows the power and grace of these beautiful dogs. Its not sport. I cant see how it could be judged as a race either - the course is so short they barely had room to stretch Im a fan of coursing, and a fan of Borzoi. But Im no fan of that.

I suppose you could expect him to reach Saluki height as its in his parentage. If the dads a Wolfhound lurcher you may end up with one BIG dog. But I doubt it. Have seen littermates from wolfhound/beddie first cross, the smallest was just over 20", the largest stopped at 29"!! He looks a cracking pup though. Good Luck.

I have a bull lurcher, 2 years old. She has great speed, stamina and turn. But once she has caught, halfway on the return she has to stop and shake her 'kill' . She gives it a really good rag before bringing back and giving up her catch. We havent worked with live prey yet - it would be a mess - but shes 'killed' several dummies just by shaking them to death. Is there any way we can stop her doing this?
