  1. Might be an idea to share, on here, ways of combatting the various pests and problems we all have trying to grow vegetables. I'll start off by saying that the Alium Leaf moth is a huge problem. As of lately, an insecticide called Bandhu was available but has been taken off the market. What has replaced it for the domestic gardener? Mice. The little blighters are under the peas and just about everywhere else. How to cope? Ants in the peas. Powder or something else? Cabbage white butterfly? Yes netting is obvious but can we do anything else? Slugs and snails? As of next year the blue pellets wi
  2. Eh up son. Just having my first boiling of new potatoes with cabbage and lamb shank. To be fair things are looking good. All the usual salad bits and bobs going great. Greenhouse flourishing. Put in a lot of leek plants this morning and another row of peas. Unfortunately we have the dreaded Alium Leaf Miner among the onions so bad news there. Set out a range of brassicas but the pigeon soon sorted them out. Also trying a few new herb varieties which should make my faggots very tasty. The new potatoes are a new on e on me , Jazzy. 2nd early salad variety.
  3. I'll admit I tried my hardest but the fckg just hopped on to the roof. No contest there. Jok
  4. You are a numb nuts WK. I actually think I'm quite pleased to see the thing bearing in mind where I live. She sits there pruning herself not causing any problem to anyone and to be fair, my grand daughter thinks it's wonderful, so much so that she is starting a school project about it. Alternately I agree, air rifle is a better option. Ffs. Don't know where to go with this one. Twitchers might turn up lol. I'm laughing my balls off thinking about the possible consequences. Jok
  5. Know what pal. My. First thought was net her and relocate. Then , second thought, relocate to where? Tried the landing net route anyway and discovered how well these buggers fly. Straight onto my roof. Ffs. Not going to catch her then so decided to leave well alone. Only trouble is that she has become a thing of interest outside my house which means unwelcome attention. Jok.

    Cuckoo

2 X Fox Inn pubs around Tamworth pal. One at Hopwas near the woods that back onto Whittington Barracks and the other in the village of Warton, which, sadly is now closed. I'm guessing the former. If you feel it might be worth a whirl, I can highly recommend Coton and Hopwas Club for a bit of good banter and damned good beer. Jok.

    Cuckoo

Strange but true. We have a little village , near Tamworth, called Dordon. No 1 fact the local pub was called the Cuckoos Rest and No 2 fact the locals are dubbed cuckoos. Now I'm not suggesting that things went on in another's nest but hey ho eh. Lol. Jok.
