  1. Glad you got your plot smartened up Mr TP. I can only generalise as don't like being shot down from a great height but as a rule cow muck is by far the best. It needs being a couple of years old and as straw free as the local farmer can find. If you think about it, what does he do with muck?? (farmers ain't often wrong). He drives up and down with the muck spreader, leaves that for a while to soak into the ground and then plows. Why should we be any different. Clean all your garden and literally cover it in manure. The winter will take all the goodness into the soil and when you rotovate or di
  2. Eh up you lot. Picked my damsons about 20 mins ago. Should I say shook the branches. Talk about ripe and sweet. Perfect for the gin and vodka. Same recipe as mentioned before. Get them in lads and lasses.
  3. When ever we guddled trout on our farm stream, we would fillet out the back bone and clearly most of the ribs. Mother would then fry them in butter but with the trout covered in crushed barley and some herbs. 1/2 pound trout with some bread and butter was fantastic. AND because the old man hadn't had to do anything we n ever got a beating. Them were the days.
  4. To be honest I keep reading this post and thinking. I keep reading this post and thinking. I keep reading th... You get the idea.
  5. Should have said. The bean that I've had for the last 3 years is Polestar. Beauty of it is little or no string. Just got a bagful of Enorma from a friend and they are not stringless. Might be worth having a word with your mates.
  6. Let the pods go yellow. The beans will then be ready. Just pop them out and store in a plastic container in a dry place for the remainder of the year. Remember at school when we used to shove 2 beans down the side of a jam jar packed with sawdust surrounded by tissue. Well that still is a good way to start off your plants.
  7. Suppose it's worth a mention as were all having a go. River Leader. Tributary to the Tweed. Earlston. Good night. Aluminium plate and a good light. 15 fish and a good cigar. Pull on the bottle. Smiling like a thing gone smily mad. BLUE LIGHT. Fck me and tried to do a runner but with a little Renault something it wasn't gonna happen. Nicked' Lauder |Polce Station. and the the obvious. Now what I did not know was that the water was owned by the Sherrif. Obvious result. Highest fine per fish in Scotland. What a buzz though.
  8. Trouble is. When you jump in the river Tweed at Melrose a few items get in your way. Them's some big bailifs and they don't like it.
  9. Yer all a bunch of things. If you can't catch on a fly don't go out . Mind yu, I remember a day in January many years ago when a lovely old lad said to me and a mate, have a half bottle and meet me at the Chain Bridge. We were 14 at the time. He had us jump in at the head of the pool with a tennis net anchored one side. Thing is the half bottle didn't half come in handy. Ended up with a tidy profit from the local hotel. Who says everything should be done right.??

  15. Well. Need to be a bit careful here. Yes without doubt these guys have the dogs to do it and have been with them on Yorkshire moors for a lot more than a hundred rabbits. As regards the reds, then one of the guys brought in a French dog, cross bred and created a killing machine. Totally loyal and all in all one of the best dogs for the job. If this guy reads this he will know who I am so enough.
  16. Mm. I think I know these guys.
