    Just got a kickback from one of my mates, says, fck me it's too hot to handle. Made my eyes bleed. Tears obviously, just goes to show what wonderful things grow out there.

    I know no-one believes my earlier posts but please trust me on this one. Bananas. A friend of mine worked for a wholesaler and things go out of date. Needless to say I asked what was available and lo and behold, Bananas. The ducks love the things and the the best part is they are free. Try it.

    Just a thought for you catty guys, Iv'e a lovely piece of leather which I guess would make good pouches. I think it's about 30ins x 24ins but could be more. Is it worth a punt?

    TP. Trust me on this one. The only thing is, when it comes to ground for your brassicas , it definitely is not the way to go. Them buggers need hard ground , otherwise, to my misfortune yet again, the florets burst like Spring flowers. I'll be buying Brussels like the rest of you guys which quite honestly doesn't impress me one bit. The rest of my allotment however has faired pretty well.

    Well my friend. For what it's worth, leave it on the surface. " reasons". Believe it or not, weeds grow throughout the winter and when you surface cover it stops them. Then, come Spring, when you are about to start setting the little beggars have that to get through. In the meantime, all the nutrients have sieved their way into the soil and heyho away we go. You'll find your weeding easier and in fact nearly a pleasure compared to all your neighbours. Give it a go. It's only another experiment in the gardeners experience.

    Just a thought cause I got away with it some time ago.Old chap in the village had me making elderberry wine in 5 gallon containers open to the air. When I mentioned to him that there was mold on the surface his reply was,"Mould grows up not down you clown". Now, when you think about it this could be bang on the button. Mind you, he also told me that someone asked him for a pund of cabbage and his reply was " I'd have to cut it in haef and haef again. Ain't worth me bother". Still, You never know till you try.
