That is my point. He was already proven in the PL whereas they could have spent less on a defender from the Spanish or Italian league who couldn't make the transition.

It could be that there is a premium on proven PL players. Look how much money has been wasted on superstars from Italy, France and Spain who can't hack it on a wet Wednesday in the Midlands. How much did Woodenhead and Mou' waste on defenders? Maguire was arguably overpriced, as was VVD. But they slipped straight into the starting 11 week in, week out and formed the backbone of their teams. And they have sound personalities. That has got to be better than taking a punt on some foreign player who might prove to be an expensive waste of time.

Man Utd have still got to undo the legacies of LVG and Mou'. Getting rid of Rooney was a master stroke, but then Mou' brought in Sanchez who became exactly the same problem that Rooney had been.And still is. Add that situation to the Pogba signing, the Lukaku signing and all the other duds signed and sold for losses like Pigsticker and you have a toxic dressing room. I did 25 years in law enforcement and my view is that all governments are happy to allow a certain level of crime exist. It keeps people in jobs replacing stolen goods, it allows the poor to buy on the black market stuff they couldn't afford retail and it keeps the insurance industry afloat. As long as it doesn't impact too much on rich people like them crime is OK for the rest of us to suffer.

The bin looks like it has been gnawed from the inside. I'm guessing that a rat got in and the lid was shut on it. There is no damage to the outside of the lid. The trail-cam imagery has only showed a single rat and loads of wood mice and there are no red squirrels in the area that the customer knows of. They haven't been in touch so I'm hoping that the rat has run into the break-back trap. If it had gone into the live catch one they would need me to come round and shoot it. The rat has avoided both traps, one box trap baited with cod liver oil and Frolicks dog biscuits. The trouble with this one is that the endless stream of mice keep setting the trap off despite it being set on top of a plastic box about a foot off the ground. The Yanks call them deer mice and they can't have jump. Th second trap is a tunnel made from one centimetre mesh over a Mk. IV Springer. I poured cod liver oil over the grooves of the decking board that the trap is standing on and put the trap outside near to the dustbin where it had made a new hole under the shed. Now it has moved i

A few years ago I went into a supermarket and saw a young member of staff wearing the badge Twilight Manager. I asked him is he could extend the twilight for a couple of hours as I was hoping to do a bit of fly-fishing after work. It is the same with barbel. There are some in Turkey and the Middle-East that run to over 200lb. Imagine the bite you would get from one of those ? Mind you, the way things are going with non-endemic species it is only a matter of time before some half-wit introduces Nile Perch or Mangar to English rivers.

If VAR is used for offside decisions then you are going to have to accept the small margins. There is no other way for it to be fair. Same as photo finishes at horse racing and athletics.
