The problem with negotiating with the EU is that all the top hierarchy are committed to the cause like Scientologists, Jehovia's and that bloke outside Downing Street. They got where they are now because they have swallowed the EU pill and cannot comprehend why anyone should not agree with their vision. As such there is no balance inside the government of the EU. They are all zealots. But, as I have said before; the EU is not all about Brussels. By this evening Hans, Fritz, Pierre, Guiseppi, Pedro, Stavros and all will realise that their jobs are on the line and they haven't got long to

True, but then it is important to some to get from London to Birmingham 6 minutes quicker. ? We live in a very rural area and I would estimate that over 90% of the houses around here are heated by log burners. We are surrounded by forests that are managed to provide wood for burning and for paper production. They could not ban the selling of wood that hasn't been kiln dried as most fire wood is left out for years to season and much of the supply chain is via farmers and small holders who have a bit of woodland. We have an oil fired boiler that must be over 15 years old. It has no exh

Basically, yes. I have partial deafness and so can't hear the noise that the grass makes, but he said it resembled a mouse squeaking. He took two fairly wide blades of grass and rubbed them together for a few seconds, resting for a second or two and then resuming for a few seconds. Some of the owls came within a few feet of us. Mainly tawnys but that could be down to us being in or near woodland watching the pheasant roosts.
-
Have you tried the grass trick? When I used to go out night watching with a mate he could bring owls to within a few feet of us just by rubbing two blades of grass together.

They all do that for the telly. Nobody would tune in unless there was something decent caught. It happens in real life too. I heard that Daniel Cain employs a midget lookalike to hold his fish for the camera.

Sounds like the problem was the Dad. You don't think that it might have been an inappropriate moment to be asked for an autograph during filming? To be honest if I was famous I'd be really pee'd off at continually being asked for selfies, autographs and the like by trophy hunters.

That debate is years old. What was the outcome; was it > badgers or badgers > ?

Looks like Grindr might be your best option.

I met him years ago. Total winker. Wouldn't believe a word he said / wrote. You could use that as your introduction.

Lovely chap and a credit to his sport.

Well, they sent me plenty. Must be how you phrased the question.

I think that Bo-Jo and David Frost are playing a blinder over the trade deal. Frost went into the lion's den and gave them it straight - no messing and he puts it across in a way that the foreign press can relate to their readers. All of a sudden it is the EU that is seen to want the penny and bun, not the UK. Frost's red lines can be seen to be reasonable by all but the rabid EU Stasis like Verhoftwat. In fact Hungary and others have come out and said as much. They know that they wouldn't agree to following EU rules once they were out of the club so why should we? And, they are scared of not

I can't quote for the majority of the whole, but of the customers I meet on a regular basis many have wood burners as their sole source of heating and those like us who have alternative fuel central heating often have a wood burner that they use to provide a bit of heat in the main living area rather than put the oil burning boiler on. At this time of year a log burner will just take the edge off and if you can source the wood free or cheap then it makes double the sense.

That is not an answer. You said: "Most people burn wood for looks, just because they want to sit by a pretty fire, they don't actually need it." Nothing in the post above supports your statement. In fact it undermines your opinions. I really don't expect you to answer me properly because you obviously haven't got any facts to support you opinions. And remember that 9 hours ago you took Wilf to task and told him: " I suggest you check facts before you quote " I suggest that you do the same.
-
That isn't an answer. That is a question. You tell me how many log burners also have central heating because I haven't the foggiest. And I'm still waiting for your source for the statistics you quoted earlier.
-
You said: "Most people burn wood for looks, just because they want to sit by a pretty fire, they don't actually need it." Would you care to expand on that statement? Where have you got the information to be able to determine who 'most people' are? A few links to your sources of information would be helpful. Unless of course you know everybody in the world and what fuel they use and why.

And get as many cars as possible off the road so they don't have to spend money on traffic management.

But it is not just the garage sellers who will suffer. There are loads of farmers and other professionals who make a bit of extra money selling seasoned logs and they cannot guarantee the humidity of every single piece of wood they sell. And you can often buy it unseasoned and leave it out to dry yourself. That won't be allowed. If you insist on every log being kiln dried or every piece checked for moisture content then they are out of business leaving those who kiln dry wood no cheaper competition so can put their prices up. And, drying wood in a kiln adds to the carbon footprint. Leaving wo

I can't see any court in the land convicting somebody for using illegal wood on the basis that there was smoke coming out of the chimney. "Must have been a soot fire Your Worship." How can they prove otherwise? Its going to be one of those laws that never get enforced.
-
The lads on here won't let the TV licensing man in so what chance has the bloke who wants to check that their wood is dry enough to burn? ?

Liverpool's transfer deals over the last three seasons are a net outlay of around £90 million. City in the same period: £347 million outlay Man Utd: £375 million outlay

What people who say the EU has 27 countries so is much stronger than the UK don't realise is that all those 27 countries want different things and that pulls the EU apart. It makes it weaker not stronger. Look how hard it is for Boris to keep the Union intact. Imagine 27 different countries as diverse as Germany and Malta, Sweden and Romania all trying to agree on anything. The UK negotiators are playing a blinder at the moment.
