  1. Thee first Flatpack stainless traps I bought in 2012 were the dog's nutts. They weren't stamped with the company name unlike the second batch I got from them a year later. These were wider and had a shallower profile and the body and springs were made out of thinner gauge metal. I found them too wide, I seem to recall they were well over 70mm whereas the originals were 65mm, same as the old Duffus branded trap I have. I asked Flatpack about the changes and they wouldn't answer the questions saying that they hadn't altered the specifications which I found disappointing as they obviously had.
  2. Traore certainly is a different player since he joined Wolves. His speed was never an issue. Now he can run with the ball at his feet which is useful him being a footballer. Signs of good coaching staff at Molyneux.
  3. No, you read it wrong. Donald is hoping to sell the club and put some to what money he gets for the club to buy a donkey.
  4. If you are talking about the social distancing just remember that they are all related. All 30,000 of them ?
  5. But at least there is no one on there who thinks that Sunderland are the biggest team in the world if not the north-east.
  6. It was started about the Flatpack Putanges. I only found out that they were making them a few days ago. But as you mention it, my brother-in-law does sell exactly the same type of trap as the other guy who claims to be the only UK seller of them. ?
  7. I don't know why the coat them in copper paint or whatever it is. The touching parts wear through straight away and it is those points that are critical to the trap's action. It wasn't the rust that was the main problem though. I found that after a while they became too weak. Those traps on ebay sold by Paulus73 aren't stainless. They are the bog standard traps available more cheaply elsewhere. I don't know how he is getting away with it.
  8. They should be good from Flatpack. They seemed to reduce the quality of the stainless Duffus traps a few years ago, but the last batch I got from them were a lot better. I am surprised that their Putanges aren't stainless. Stainless ones are a far better option for pro's.
  9. Only if you understand dogs. Some owners could watch their dogs for a lifetime and never have a clue what the dog was doing.
  10. Talk about a full circle. I see that Flatpack are making the French Putange mole traps. About bloody time too what with Brexit and all that. ? I also had to laugh at the guy on ebay claiming to be the only one selling original French Putanges. How the feck can he claim that when there is no trademark, registration of the name or product definition? There must be at least ten different types of French made Putange, so what makes his original. They've been around for 300 years FFS? And he claims that they are stainless steel. They aren't. They are the bog standard mild steel ones. ?
  11. That just about sums it up. The thing is that the scent can in some cases last for days so the dog has to be able to detect a minute change in the strength of scent. I once tried to get my dog to track backwards to try and re-trace the track to try and find a gun that had been hidden. It was like trying to push wet spaghetti up a cat's arse. I got it in the end but it wasn't an easy find. But I think that it would be possible to train a dog to track back if you needed to.
  12. The way I used to explain it is that a dog's sense of smell is like our eyesight. When looking at a rope made out of millions of different coloured threads we can see the whole rope and the different colours of the threads that make it up. If we examine the rope closely we can see from the colours that some of the threads don't go the whole way. They are only found in some parts of the rope. But other coloured threads can be seen to go the whole way through the rope from beginning to end. When you train a dog to search the dog can smell millions of different scents. What you have to train
  13. Couldn't the lady send some of her out of work donkeys to help those kids in Africa who live too far from the well?
  14. What were the odds? ?
  15. It is exactly the same as training for other scents such as drugs, explo' or weapons. You get an active dog with a good play drive, get it to retrieve a tennis ball, then to find the ball. Then the ball is hidden where the dog can almost but not quite get to it and when the dog positively indicates where the ball is it gets rewarded. That is extended to make it more difficult and something bearing the scent that the dog is required to indicate is also placed next to the tennis ball. Once the dog is indicating correctly every time then the article with scent is hidden without the tennis ball.
  16. This afternoon I called in at a local lawn mower shop to get a new petrol cap for my mower. The shop had a marked out walk way and arrows pointing out where I needed to walk to the desk that had a perspex screen in front of it. There were crosses on the floor marking out 2 metre distances in the queue to the till. The lady at the desk took my order, looked on the computer for the part number and availability. There was some issue as to which of two choices I needed so she asked me to go round to the back of the desk so I could sit in the stool right next to hers, lean across her desk and view

    Brexit mk2

The EU give grants and prizes to people who champion the European dream. Bliar, Major and others have been beneficiaries to large cash gifts.
  18. If this is a habitual thing, same time every day sort of thing just wait with a bucket of water and douse the beagle from your bedroom window before it does its stuff. A couple of dousings will do the trick but not until you have collected enough dog-doo to fill a Jiffy bag as per Greyman's suggestion.
  19. You mean the one with the lazy ewe?

That is exactly why I have always believed that the EU will eventually give the UK a good deal. At first they tried to bully the UK and Theresa May was just too frightened of them. Then she called the election that resulted in her not having the support to push anything through and Barmier thought that he could bulldoze the UK into reversing Brexit. Thankfully Boris has taken a more hardline stance and with his majority he does not have to cow-tow to Northern Ireland, Scotland and the Remoaners. He can and is getting on with it and that is frightening European exporters to death. I have
  21. A month or so back there were accounts of Kim Jong-un having died after surgery. Then he pops back up as large as life. Or has he? I think that they have replaced him with a look alike, probably one of his brothers. All of a sudden his sister is making a play for power and the recent photos of Kim Jong-un don't look like the older photos from a few months ago. I reckon they are fielding a ringer.

    Brexit mk2

What people thought was the strength of the EU, in that there are 27 countries facing 1 is actually working against them. They all have their own agendas; Germany needs to sell its cars at zero tariffs, Italy needs to sell its domestic appliances and furniture at zero tariffs, the Poles want to send their unemployed to the UK, Spain want Gibraltar, the Greeks want their marbles back and France wants fecking everything ; to fish the UK waters whilst selling their cars and food at zero tariffs and keeping the UK locked into EU rules to stop them being out done. This is the undoing of the EU. Whi
  23. That would equate to around 12lb - 15lb mono so a 2lb tc rod would suit.
  24. That is fine for casting 3oz weights. However, if you are not intending using weights of this size then the next consideration is line strength and that is governed by the size of fish and the environment; weeds, rocks, current, etc. So, for 15lb carp in open water you could use 8lb line so a 1.5lb tc rod would suffice. If the places you fish are more snaggy then go 10lb line and a 2lb tc rod. Basically, if you don't need to cast a 3oz weight that action is way too stiff for carp topping at 15lb max in my opinion.
  25. It is unbelievable what the Yanks build out of plastic pipes. There are Youtube videos showing how to make small pontoon boats out of water pipe. I honestly don't know what so is wrong with a proper boat that you have to contrive something out of U bends, drain pipes and water barrels ?
