There is a system that works purely on convection with no electricity required. Basically there is a vent through the wall that leads to a large radiator type thingy, double walled so when the sun hits it it warms up the air causing it to rise and escape through a vent in the top. That causes a through draft inside the room as long as there is a vent to allow fresh air in. The convection thingy needs to be on a south facing wall. Alternatively, fit a solar panel to power a small DC ventilator.

Wild Camping, Hiking, Back pack, Tent talk, Mini camper etc.......

I've had tents, caravans and motorhomes and each has its benefits and drawbacks. We often camp off-piste in quiet areas for three or four days and the MH is the best for that. In France you cannot legally park a caravan anywhere but on a campsite and most of those are only open in July and August. You can park a MH virtually anywhere, anytime. -

When Mrs. Nicepix and I go wild camping we only take the basic, bare essentials; central heating hot water shower, three ring cooker and oven, fridge freezer, tv, stereo, double bed, wardrobe.......... ? -
There is an issue about crucians at the moment. Many are hybrids, crossed with other species of small carp. If you contact the EA fisheries department they might be able to advise as some people are looking to preserve the true crucians and could be interested in stocking a lake with no other species of carp jn it. Tench would also suit that sort of water.

The trouble with threads about survival wild camping and the like is that they always end up the same; a discussion on what to buy. Its all about buying, never about how to do it. -

Windscreens filter out a lot of uv so the solar panel doesn't work as well. And there is no sun in Scotland anyway. -

Surprising how many of these survival wallahs post photos of their gear set up in their gardens. -

I'd add a pair of pyjamas, dressing gown and smoking jacket to that list. -
I see the charming SNP minister Blackford is mouthing off about the English Government that pays his wages and expenses. He says that a fish rots from its head. Does that include Sturgeon and Salmon(d)?

Hide from the sun and mozzies.

Errr, yes. Trapping them works. Or so I've been told. ?

Same here in France. Loads of bees and butterfies, some species I don't recognise. But hardly any wopsts or hornets.
-
Clematis and buddleia have totaly different flowers. The latter has fronds of tiny flowers that are more attractive to bees and butterflies. I would get something similar. Best Plants to Attract Bees and Butterflies - Arboretum: Your Home & Garden Heaven WWW.ARBORETUM.IE As pollinators, bees, butterflies and insects play an essential role in our gardens. They fertilise plants by transferring pollen from one flower...

I see. Not an auto feed strimmer then? The screws will turn anti-clockwise to loosen. Only the main retaining nut will be left hand thread.
-
The double sided holes are designed to take one length of cord. Each end of the cord goes through the holes and you have to wind the cord the right way so that it feeds out. You shouldn't need to undo the screws to dismantle the spool. Once the cover is off it should pull out.

Why can't Hank and Bud do that with their home made plastic pods?
-
NGT = No Good Tackle TFG = Total F***ing Garbage Might be why he used them as back ups for others and not for himself. I've got four Delkims from the 1970s / 80s. Been OK so far.
-
So how does that rod pod and electronic alarms go with Hank & Bud? It isn't that long ago you reckoned that you'd be thrown off the pond if you didn't have a five dollar plastic pipe rod rest.

Plus the thirty odd it took you to wake up

I thought it might be one of those steep sided valley reservoirs. In your case I would fish into the wind when it is blowing into deeper water using a ledgered or float ledgered bait. If there is a fish farm near you ask if they have any casualties for sale. Or nobble some small bream. That legendary pike might be a wels catfish.

When I used to fish Ladybower Res for trout I had a fish finder on the boat. All the larger fish, that I guess were pike, were sitting just under the thermocline around 30 to 35 foot deep even in the 100 feet plus zone. They were laying in the colder water, just above the dead zone where there is little or no oxygen in summer. I would imagine that the water Walshie is going to fish will share the same characteristics, deep steep sided reservoir full of trout.

Yes, you can buy a dedicated spod rod. Why? I don't know. As you might have worked out I fish for carp differently to the popular methods. Someone might argue the case for a dedicated spod rod, reel and line, but I just use an old pike deadbait rod or a cheap telescopic pike rod. It delivers the same bait to the same place.

The trend in this part of the world is to use a suspended canvas type trough with water in it when unhooking carp. They all have them set up ready for action along with a huge landing net stuck up vertical like a flag, a spare rod with a spomb dangling from it and a couple of hundred Euros worth of boilies, pop-ups and glugs on display on a picnic table. They all set up like that. It is laughable. Last summer I came across one of these unhooking troughs set up in full sun with the temperature of the water at almost 40C. Poached fish anyone?

That tackle would be OK. Use soft wire though and a trout bait. Regards deep hooking: if you strike as soon as the pike takes then you won't deep hook them. Float fishing is ideal for that.
