He was probably the first posh person that I met. Used to love his announcements at shows "Jeck Russell dogs ring one, Laykie bitches ring two", just sounded so different. I say posh (and I am sure others here will know far better than me) but believe he was born into a mining family and funded his own education to eventually become a barrister. Some achievement for a lad from a pit village, particularly back then.

That's a shame. Not pretending that I knew him and only met him at club meetings many years ago and occasionally at shows in more recent years. An absolute gent from a bygone age, more's the pity. RIP.

Don't think the rats will be losing any sleep over it.

The beauty of terriers bred for purpose rather than to breed standards is that they come in all sizes. Seen some very useful very small Russell types. Probably a better proposition than the breed under discussion? I would think, but have no knowledge or experience of Prazsky Kysarik. Looks like a toy Manchester terrier. A Czech breed?

I'm watching Meet Joe Black. Seen it before and an enjoyable and quite clever film. But also an example of how "Hollywood " can sell anything as being good, even Death, if Death has a physical appearance of Brad Pitt.

Some pictures from that trip including one of the bull mastiff that the charming old gentleman wanted to take home.

Love a Jack Daniel's, or a John Daniels as I call him... when you're known him as long as I have...

I called into a pub one afternoon when over there, well several pubs but no all on the same day. I have no idea where it was as some days I would just set off on my own with no plan or agenda. I almost passed through one of those beautiful but tiny villages where if you blink you've passed through it and out the other side. Spotted a pub and decided to call in. I had a dog with me. A white terrier of typical stamp, 14" 18lb and smooth coat. I walked in and ordered a pint, had a bit craic with the few people who were in there and got the usual "we don't get many Welsh people in here". I th

Visited Carrock on Shannon a few years ago, where my family are from way back, and nearly all of the lovely people I met thought my Geordie accent was Welsh

It staggers me the amount of people that I have known who jump into a "committed relationship" and far, far worse decide to "get pregnant" after given less thought to it than I would making a discussion regarding getting another dog. So often it goes tits up (or less than perfect) and they just move on, only to repeat the exact mistake again within a few years, or sometimes less than that. Producing kids with no sense of normality because their parents need to do what's best for their own happiness.

In regard to the nipples thing previously mentioned, the rule on THL is that if you don't post a picture proving it then it didn't happen. Well... what a shit storm that's created!
-
Has anyone else noticed that nipples seem to be in fashion? Spent a few hours in Newcastle today and it was quite bizarre the number of lasses walking about not wearing a bra. Hasn't got anything to do with whippet x greyhounds but just wanted to mention it.

You can never be sure of a persons present frame of mind when things are being written on internet forums.

Cheers. I wasn't sure if the people in the background were far away or very small and it may have been a quart.

I want one, what is it?

A fine hound in repose has been appreciated throughout history by Celtic chieftains, Scottish lairds and more earthly dog men. The deerhound type looks nice also.

If you see the couple AND the cat at the same time I wouldn't worry too much. But if you only ever see either one of them and the cat...

I know it's often easier said than done and sometimes we must take advantage if working in a famine or feast type industry but cutting down on hours worked will do a man far more good than any amount of vitamins.

An interesting point of view from the Antipodeans. Many breeds that we have written off or never rated (boxers, Great Danes, EBT etc) seemed have found a purpose down under. Possibly because needs must and what is available will be tried? I like that. The corgi cross that I had was capable of punching way above his weight but only in anger. More ASBO than VC. He didn't like the dark and even though being of a Sealyham type stamp was nothing like one. Not his fault and I rather liked him.

I used to enjoy reading the Shooting News. After looking at the letters page and classified used to see if Darergi had submitted an article. Seemed genuine. Liked the old Border/Lakeland types that he seemed to have.

We had corgi x Russell when I was a kid. I've yet to see his equal for biting postmen, milkmen, paperboys, neighbours and relatives. My dad took him to the vet and got his knackers chopped off in the hope of calming him down so unfortunately none of the blood survives today. The operation didn't calm him down and if anything made him even angrier but the story has a happy ending as my dad found him a good home living on a farm even though we were never allowed to visit.
