Nice to see you’d both out again... yous got any rabbits going spare with jackets on ??? Or pigeons ??? 2 or 3 of each would be good... PM me or keep me in mind if you get any next time you’re out ?
-
Thank you Bushbound, much appreciated and so is your pm - very respectful ?

Nice one, I’ll have a look on YouTube at his channel and also I’ll take on board leaving it out for longer periods but I may not commit to rubbing horse shit on my hands before setting it up ? (maybe find a muddy patch and rub them there)... i know there’s a few roe deer kicking about and foxes in the area too, I’m really hoping for a buzzard more than anything else but I’ll be investing in a cam and with patience and some luck hopefully I’ll come back posting some nice images over the winter ?

Thank you pal for the kind words. I use a Canon 1DX mkii with either a 500 f4 lens(sometimes with a 1.4 extender) or a 100-400 mkii lens, I also have a 7D mkii as a backup body or when I want to travel a little more lightweight and mobile ?

Thank you for the info mate, you obviously know your stuff. I’ll look into the Browning one you mentioned, if I get stuck or need anymore help I’ll drop you a pm if you don’t mind ?

I’m sure there’d be some amamzing stories to be heard as well as some sad ones too I’d imagine and yes, nature can be very cruel but also very beautiful. heres a link to my photos if you’d like to see more of what I’ve captured on camera https://www.flickr.com/photos/94724826@N08/ I’m pretty sure pinemartens prey also on grey squirrels and not reds ??? I do wonder if that’s why both reds and martens are thriving in Scotland along with greys being controlled...

It’s so I can see what’s visiting and taking bait, then once I know if things are and they’re regular I’ll set my hide up and take my DSLR ?
-
That’s my plan, I have high end DSLR which I used to photograph the above sparrow hawk, just wanted to know if the trail cam would pick them up so I know what’s visiting... I’ll be setting a hide up and putting bait out regular so it’s all to monitor what’s feeding if anything... Once I find any activity and know it’s regular I’ll spend time in the hide with my proper camera cheers for the advice ?

Can anyone tell me if trail cameras are any good for small woodland birds or can be triggered by sparrow hawks or buzzards ??? i do a lot of wildlife photography and have set up a feeding station in woodland but would like to try and bait it for predatory birds or possibly foxes... I’d like to get some more images like these ones I took, any help appreciated.

Couple of red squirrels from a quick visit to a local spot I know -
She is an author of “H is for hawk” and also a lecturer of English at a top university... To be fair the book is a cracking read, although it has a lot to do with her fathers death and how she grieved - it does tell the story of how she hadn’t trained a Gos for over 10 yrs but fell back in love with it, describes a good chunk of training, fear of losing the bird, hunting and even poaching with the Gos - well worth a read ?

Sunset at St Mary's lighthouse on Sunday, I'm no landscape photographer and no filters were used - I do love how the rocks, pools and seaweed had a golden cast over them. -
This may be of interest to one of you lot. Someone I know has 2 tickets in a corporate box for the England v Belgium game Thur 28th June. He paid £500 each including flights but he didn't realise when he bought them months ago that it was going to be the same day as his wedding! If you are interested, he is looking for someone to take his place. It's at Skipton Registry Office, at 4pm. The bride's name is Nicola -- she's 5'4", about 8 stone, quite pretty, has her own income and is a really good cook.

I love the call of the cuckoo, makes it even more special that they're only here a few months max, such a distinct and iconic call... You done well to see a couple pal, wonder if they were male and female pairing up..
-
Amazing footage of an eagle stealing a rabbit from a fox
-
I've seen them feeding on worms, slugs and caterpillars - mostly worms they been finding in the grass.

Good luck in finding the best/host birds mate.. I've seen behaviour when the males have picked up small objects as if tonne presenting to the females - amazing. Fantastic birds to hear Calling but when you see them or photograph them it just steps up a level.
-
