  1. There was one in a thick bit of brambles in my garden last year, my mums 10 year old (pet) Jack Russell flew in after him and he legged it. See a fair few on the streets near me and all look fairly healthy.
  2. Looks a right unit, whats his speed like?
  3. Any idea on the size you're wanting it to be? A Collie based lurcher would be ideal and if you wanted something else then a racey GWP x Grey would have a great coat and do what you wanted it to do.
  4. Ridiculous reporting, the point where they open the freezer and show the knife is what got me, that meat is either going to be rabbit or meat that's been come from the butchers. Also the owner wasn't there to defend himself, that dog with the limp or the one with the cut may have been to the vets already but they don't say that. They should invite someone on who is all above board and show the real side to working dogs!
  5. If that works half as well as it looks then it'll be a top dog.
  6. Evening, I've been following the forum and giving my input for a while now and would love to get more involved. I don't have a working dog as I still live at home and can't have another dog alongside my mums. Would love to come along for a mooch with someone and get myself into the sport for when I can have my own dogs in the future. I know it's a long shot and people are suspicious but if you don't ask you don't get. I'm 23 by the way. Dave.
  7. Least the dogs are alive fella, bad do for you but could have been worse. Wishing them a speedy recovery.
  8. I'd recommend a Jack Russell, mad when out and about but chilled out in the house and ok around kids and other dogs if socialised from being a pup. Keep us updated!
  9. She was more interested in the other dogs to honest. Flushed a rabbit back end of the walk and she the joined in the action, after that she was showing much more interest in the rabbits holes along the hedge line. Not a huge collie fan but she won me over soft as a brush and nice shape to her atb Fairplay to her, I'm sure it'll click soon if given regular outings she may become a handy addition when she's able to come out with you
  10. Lovely looking dog, did she understand what the other dogs were doing?
  11. What do you work him on? Maybe walk him in areas that aren't holding game?
  12. Was going to say looks like theres some German Shepherd in there, glad I'm not the only one who thought it!
  13. Not all Paterdales or Jack Russells etc are sold for mega money, some people just like to keep what I call a proper dog and not some poncy thing thats gonna lick every house visitor to death. A Patterdale that is walked properly, and by that I mean somewhere other than a little park round the corner, will make a loyal pet!
  14. In my opinion it's how you bring the dog up, I've got a Jack Russell as a pet and he's a fantastic dog. If you were to take on a Patterdale from a working home and try to give it a pet home, he may be a handful and you may end up needing to carry a shovel everywhere you go! All about the training YOU give it in my opinion.
  15. Ever thought of wearing one of the skin tight base layers like footballers wear underneath a t shirt and a decent coat? I always find wearing them I don't feel hot, sweaty and sticky, they're just the job!
  16. I'd personally let the pup keep jumping a height that it's comfortable with for now and increase the height ever so gradually to coincide with her getting older. Just make sure she doesn't hurt herself trying to jump too high as that could make her wary in the future.
  17. Looks like they're in shocking conditions, someone should give him a ring, disgraceful.
  18. Seen a lot better looking Russells if I'm honest.
  19. http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/show/113411514/bedlington-whippet-x-beagle-terrier.html Quite interesting breeding and at 10 months old and for £50 he could do a job for someone given the right training. Looks a nice type
  20. How are they bred? Is the tri colour one Beagle x Russell? It looks a nice type!
  21. Both dogs look in great condition, that black one looks like a real powerhouse!
  22. He's gonna be an absolute unit, size of his head and some knuckle to grow into! Cracking looking dog.
