  1. Actually mate I’m pretty sure you can – or at least come credibly close. This is going to go way over the god-botherer’s heads, but here’s a rough outline: Since its proposal in the 1960s, the molecular clock has become an essential tool in many areas of evolutionary biology, including systematics, molecular ecology, and conservation genetics. The molecular clock hypothesis states that DNA and protein sequences evolve at a rate that is relatively constant over time and among different organisms. A direct consequence of this constancy is that the genetic difference between any two speci
  2. Sorry mate, I think you misunderstood. The behaviour change I was referring to was my assumption for what gnasher said when he said "That's adaptation not evolution." was about the lizards, not the E.Coli. As for the second part: But would it be from a random mutation? But that would then depend on the instances of the mutation within the population as to whether it's evolution. Personally, I've not read the Origin of Species in ages, and I think I'd need to reread that before getting deeper into the debate. There are some parts I can remember and some I cannot. My trick to soundi
  3. Sorry guys, flaked and failed. Coughing so much the wife made me sleep downstairs. Worse still, I woke up coughing and there was no way I was heading out shooting.
  4. Did they change kind ? or are they still lizards ?............if they didnt change kind then surely thats adaptation and not evolution ? Have you read The Origin of Species? It'll really give you a good basis in which to view evolution. Also, I think you should have specified "Behavioural adaptation" to make your point clearer. Personally, I agree with this instance, it doesn't really seem like evolution, simply behavioural change. Genetically still identical though. The Galapagos islands have a few 'examples' of evolution. The thing is, if you look at dogs as a species, you could
  5. Sorry you are wrong. The campaign has been led by Labour, TV debates by Alister Darling, Gordon Brown been doing a bit. The Conservatives have kept quite a low profile for obvious reasons. The problem with the NO campaign is it has been too sober, clinical and negative. If you want to rally the troops you need to stir up a bit of nationalistic pride like the YES campaign has with it's Hollywood pseudo historic Braveheart bollocks. Unfortunately the traitor left in England do not have a patriotic bone in their bodies, so they were incapable of projecting a positive image of Geat Britain.
  6. A lab experiment first perfromed in 1880 which subjected an isolated strain of E.coli to heat (a change in environment) in an effort to force an adaptation to a new environment has resulted in new strains to develop, one of which has the ability to grow on citric acid. The original strain did not have this ability. Along a similar line, bacteria has evolved antibiotic resistance. This is proof that population gene pools adapt to environmental changes. That is evolution. You can't just expect to throw a dog into the sea and watch it grow fins and gills, that's not evolution. I'll ch

Thank you. If you have any evidence against, please feel free to PM me. I think blind faith is good. Blind ignorance is not. Meaning "To believe without evidence" is good. But to believe AGAINST evidence is not.
  8. That sounds proper good! Wish I was into fishing now.
  9. That's a very fair opinion. I'd love to understand more where you're coming from. PM me if you want to chat about it. No arguments, just a lot of questions; I love to learn. Oh and no mocking of Science. Ironically, my faith in God is based on the same things as your faith in Atheism.
  10. Has anyone else noted how rubbish the 'No' campaign has been? It's currently being lead by Conservatives, right? Why is it so rubbish a campaign? Is it because the conservatives are to rubbish? Maybe. Here's my 2 cents: Scotland is a dominantly Labour voting area. If Scotland was to become independent, there would be no chance that Labour would ever get into government again. Any wonder why the Conservatives are not trying too hard? Could it all just be a big game of 'acting' like you want Scotland to stay when in actual fact a Conservative government would dominate parliament without
  11. Congrats!!! That's so good. Now I have to block this thread at my wife is Super broody! We look forward to seeing the little shooter develop.
  12. That's me mate. Unwell and staying in bed!
  13. Don't worry mate. I get what you meant. I'm probably the hardest person in the world to insult. Even Zini couldn't pop a pellet through my tough skin haha. So if you ever think I've been insulted...I've probably not. I don't think I'm smart enough to be insulted really. I completely agree mate. Christians are their own worse enemies, and rarely will an Atheist even play around with the notion of a God. When people say "Nothing you say will make me believe in God." I just buy them a coffee and change subject. If they've already said they're not going to try to see the other side of the

The true irony is that both Science and Faith should actually work together, each one helping the other. Many of the leading scientists in the UK are Christian and say they are amazed the ignorance of Christians. Think about the Higgs Boson particle, the God-Particle. The idea of which was to prove the existence or non-existance of a God. Why is it the people doing the research are not separating one from the other? Blind faith in God is good for a Christian. But an inversion of the A-B get's falsely applied, if A then not B. If God, then not Science. That's ridiculous. If not
  15. Hop over to the God thread. I'm having a rant you might enjoy.

Happy to elaborate. The first half of this is Biblical, then I'll go into the realm of science. Biblically "Each species was created according to it's own kind." The only species that was not 'created' is Mankind. Mankind was made in God's image by God. Meaning not necessarily in physical form, e.g. hands and feet, 2 eyes, etc. Don't forget that God is a tri-union, Body-Spirit-Soul. Same as how people are body, spirit, and soul. It is for this reason that we are a direct manifestation, constructed specifically, not developed from 'another kind' so to speak. So Biblically, evolution does no
  17. Wow, creation vs Big Bang. Okay, here you go.... See previous message about the mis-interpretation of the original scripture. The sequencing of all the 'ages' or 'periods of time' from the Bible would fit with the sequence of the Big Bang. If you do not believe me, check out the first few chapters of the Bible and then go and read a little Hawkins. Presto. One speaks about God creating it all, the other tries to explain it without God in the picture. The thing is, everything within the sequence would be identically situated. Could people (mainly Christians) stop removing Go
  18. Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, on the back of an elephant, on the back of a giant turtle. The thing is, it just doesn't work. The maps showing the 'curved' flight routes is because a circular map cannot be drawn properly on a flat square of paper. When you look at the google earth flight plans around the antarctic, if the line of the flight was directly under the camera angle, it would be a straight line. Oh and I think people are getting ready to re-create Earnest Shackleton's expedition. So we'll find out soon anyway. p.s. how long does it take to sail around Greenland?
  19. To summarise this news article, 2 bad men did a bad thing to another bad man. Now there is one less bad man in the world, meaning one less bad man my taxes are feeding. Silver-lining.

Thank you Frazdog Personally I would drop this line of conversation mate. As a Christian, I know this to be wrong. I had a major issue with the 'age of the universe' thing when I was a kid. One word...dinosaurs. Many millions of years old, but impossible by Bible timescales. So I started researching. In the original text Genesis is written in, there are 2 anomalies in translation. Firstly the numbering. e.g. first day, second day, third day, etc. This is all correct as a sequence, however these are not specific days. When a number was placed before (if might be after, I get this mixed
  21. For me, the biggest difference is in where I'm shooting. Everyone knows I do a lot of ratting, which is why I am so crap at bagging rabbits. From experience, unless you're posting up on a single site, you need a carbine when going around chicken areas. If you're lay on the floor shooting down the lower egg belt, you'll bang the barrel of the standard gun against the supporting legs a lot and scare off the rats. The increased manoeuvrability means a super short barrel/carbine is best for indoor-mobile ratting. Changing from one spot to another. For out in the fields, I love the feel of

Any news on what's going on Dymented? I've been away a while.
  23. I'm going to try and get out tomorrow morning for a shoot. Just worried I'll be lay there, see a rabbit, and cough. At least the country air will do me some good, and I'll get to test out my winter gear while trying to stay warm! Oh the fun. I'll post back on it tomorrow. Now to find my local drug dealer for a little of Lid's remedy....
  24. Some of the best sessions are when you watch other people. You get to analyse the situation more objectively that way.
  25. Nice. I'm thinking about starting a few ratting videos, but I only use a 4x zoom. What mag do you shoot at?
