  1. Give this a try,it does what it says on the tin.
  2. Normally as soon as they leave the nest up until they finish there first moult.
  3. How much you fellas getting for rabbits of game dealers/butchers. I was getting £2.50 at butchers 10 years ago, until he got them cheaper from f######g china. London prices.
  4. Your vet, if not just Google for nearest supplier. Good luck
  5. Yes you can get jabs for bitches, not everyone likes them, the cheapest way just put a pair of baby's/infant tights on the bitch,if you can't watch them 24/7
  6. Make it more exciting, pretend to throw it,high, low, left and right but not every time, also have a tug every now and again (it doesn't make them hard mouthed) if you can make him very keen for his toys, it makes all the sit, stay, fetch and find training so much quicker and easier. Also when he starts playing up STOP even better just before he starts. Good luck
  7. Had the same round my way many years ago, running the gauntlet at night avoiding armed police, and lost count how many times I said there's one (day time) the dog would tense up, only to find on approach, it's another f######g deers head
  8. Find out if the area the ponds is in have cormorant problems before stocking anything under a couple of pound.
  9. Was it here first litter, shame about the other pup, how many times did they tye.
  10. One thing I always drummed into my kids,if the dog retreats, to, or is in his bed they must be left alone.
  11. Dogs with a guarding instinct can be beneficial but need far more observations.
  12. That sound like pure aggression not nervousness using that exspression
  13. Just correct him when needed, but dogs can pick up on things and body language.
  14. I would also like to mention to any new lurcher owner, some places are heaving with rabbits and are capable of big numbers, but most places are NOT and the rabbits can be very lamp shy. As long as his catch rate is improving that's all that matters, some people wont an instant retreave and the dog sitting at there feet, me I'm happy within arms reach, and trying there best on every slip. It's also up to you to be at your best (field craft) giving your pup an advantage .
  15. Only you will know the answer to that question, because only you know how much work you have done with the pup. But if all done (by the book lol) I would expect it to be very keen and retreaving rabbits, but still a bit clumsy, but depending on what dog you have, say a whippet saturated lurcher , I would now be showing him as many rabbits as possible, if a deerhound x should still be holding back a bit, so would look more immature and not as forward in his work. Happy Hunting
  16. Bring back jack hardgreaves..or anyone that can explain how the countryside really works, not these upper class ponses (millionaire farmers, and horse breeders on countryfile).
  17. Only got normal now, get the odd mutation but not something i buy in.
  18. I've got some normal cock greenies you can lend if your in need Tuffty, just let me know.
  19. This is when a mag box is needed, (great for niggelay/recovering/ damaged muscles if your really into getting the best from your dogs, while doing Your best for them,as well as correct diet, exercise and rest/recovery, it a vital bit of kit, also something that's getting more affordable for the average bloke are thermal imaging cameras, which would show you what muscle/s are damaged (the cheeper ones going from black to white and the better more expensive being coloured) Hope the dog has a speedy recovery.
  20. when working, mostly red meat, when working hard fatty red meat. In the summer(very hot periods) when it's hard to exercise property, I found reducing left them hungry, and found the same weight of white meat left them content with out the weight gain. No saying it's a science, just works for me. Happy Hunting
  21. Some very good points on this thread, and you can tell the people that have been reared around dogs lol. The most important thing is that they get the results the individual family won't, far to many kids are getting savaged/killed. Never once had an adult dog show me aggression, even when cleaning them up after a bad knock or tear. But if a dog you own bites, its you, who has failed the dog as well as the victim. Also remember, the biggest confident pup most people wont, has for the last 7 weeks been dominating his siblins and now has to adapt to a different higharacarky
  22. Happy Hunting to you and Ralph in the coming years.
  23. Stay away from fatty (beef/lamb) red meat and try and keep to white meat (rabbit/chicken)
