I like these, genuine example of what people do with a lurcher.
-
The Mrs has accepted the terrier and the lurcher, and has always been used to me shooting. But put her foot down and wouldn't let me get ferrets I have just put the word about and now have the use of three working hobs and a locator, the owner hasn't got time but I can use them as and when I was given a bag full of purse nets last year. I went out for a mooch with the air rifle and the dogs and took note of the holes. Inside a disused pheasant pen found 3 or 4 well used holes the dogs marked. Doesn't look like they have exits outside of the pen. Self contained rabbits and ideal

If they are only 4 and a bit months, they make 18+ then, I would think they'll be quick enough. It'd be 5 years or so but I might get something similar next time. I've got my hands full at the minute.
-
I'm surprised no one has mentioned it, but I saw some lakelands that had a build not that far off a bedlington. They would offer as good a coat as well I would have thought.

I do like these, should make a good little dog. How tall have they made so far?
-
i am utterly baffled about when this is happening, but make sure you take plenty of pictures and put them up!
-
I must admit they have always been described as inteligent by everything else I have seen.

I've always liked the look of some of the Australian dogs, kelpie/ACD. I like the idea of a different cross. But was just googling them after this thread and came across this on an Australian site: Blue Heelers & Red Heelers Blue and red heelers (also known as ‘Queensland heelers’ or ‘Australian cattle dogs’) are not used with sheep because of their tendency to bite (hence the term ‘heeler’) and no-one wants their sheep hamstrung. Blue and red heelers aren’t usually the brightest lights on the street however they are loyal and exceedingly tough dogs, the type that have all sorts o

Swap Anyfish Anywhere Surf Rod 3-5Oz For Ferret Finder
Tozer replied to Tozer's topic in Ferreting Equipment
I am watching a few at the minute, they are going for about £180ish. I'll whack the rod on there as well. -
I think taking mine out with the air rifle and sending her to the shot rabbits did good. Had a couple of good catches on some I clipped too. She just makes it awkward to stalk now though.

I was walking with the shotgun at the time, which is why I was a bit put out, I was happy to see them doing their job.
-
Our pair of terriers are coming along well. I was out last week haivng a walk along, the dogs began to witter, I could see the odd glimpse of a rabbit moving along the hedge bottom. Then as we got further I lost control of one of them who pushed half a dozen rabbits out 100 yrds ahead in a burst. She was only 11 months old so it is forgiven Watching them pushed along, do people enter a hedge from both ends and work towards each other?

I meant a 100+ years ago , but I can see their place in many situations, form shooting to bushing. I think if I wanted another bushing dog I would go for one of these. I have kept 2 spaniels in my life and they were great for what I wanted when I was out with the shotgun 5 days a week, I haven't got time any more.
-
I must admit I do like the look of your dogs. I wonder how similar these are to the original spaniels.
-
I love the look on an older dogs face that knows the score If that isn't odd, she probably puts up as many as the younger ones, you just don't notice because she makes less fuss about doing it.
-
All sorted now.
-
Hopefully mate, I can never judge this. She is growing and eating well, just keeping her exercised for now. Both parents were 22/23, so I can't see her being much off that. I know one out of the litter is a good 2/3" taller than the rest already.
-
Just coming up to 5 months old now and just over 17" tts. 3/4 whippet 1/4 saluki. Hoping to sort out some ferretting this side of the new year. Poor pics from my phone:
-
I very nearly went for one of these, but I had to be honest with myself and realise it was because I wanted to get a dog similar to my last. I went for a whippet and a terrier separately this itme. I was beginning to think a spaniel whippet would be more useful with similar qualities, but it is only theory,

My dads terrier is the same, we took her to the vets, went over the top worming. But the vet said the same to us, she had a good bulk of mussel, is fit and healthy, but is just a very slight dog.

It isn't just rooks, I've seen the jackdaws entering chimneys. I think they do it now, whilst they have the excess food of Autumn ready for the spring. -
I wouldn't think it's the UK, if you made a bang like that anywhere except some remote parts of Wales and Scotland you would have more guns, lasers and helicopter spotlights pointing at you than you would know where to get away from! Those blokes must be either dead or deaf after that.

Yeah, what I am trying to say I think is unfair to those who have faith, it isn't the place of this forum to question that. Good analogy though.

I can never see how everyone can grasp the idea of a dog a carrying 'the blood of so and so's line', and jump on the back of that, but can't comprehend evolution. If you look at dogs, do you not see the possibilities of change? Creating different breeds is just a MASSIVELY accelerated example of evolution, with a bit of poetic licence. If suddenly the only people could survive were over 6ft 3" there would be a dramatic thinning of the population, followed by a massive increase in average height, something that would be carried forward by the 'blood' of the generations that survived
