  1. I will be very interested to see how these turn out.
  2. I see no reason why I shouldn't be able to hunt hare with my dog. I almost htought if you change the law to say it is only illegal to gamble on hunting. But if you give them an inch they will take a mile
  3. Just realizing it was your article in Countrymans Weekly. Cracking looking pups. I haven't got a terrier already I would snap one up.
  4. Cracking dog mate, I spent a lot of time looking for a decent bull/whip before I settled on my dog. If we aim for september I'll let you know mate, just an easy day time walk, knock a few up. That sounds like the best of both worlds Tozer . Exactly what I was going for I put a lot of thought and time, went to view a few older/rescue dogs (most of the had problems I haven't got the time to correct, the good ones wanted decent money for them), I went for this cross in the end. Should see me well, looking forward to a good few years rabbiting with her I've paid a bi
  5. I'll be out soon, I'll let you know. I'm picking up a pup first week in September. Obviously won't be ready until at least next season though, 1/4 saluki 3/4 whippet.
  6. I've got some land lined up, whats her breeding tb25?
  7. Cracking mate, keep it up.
  8. I'll give it a go. Being honest I haven't clue I have 3/4 collie 1/4 spaniel here and 2 terriers so not out tgis season. It was just a genuine question on the forum. Picking my pup up in september so it will be 12 months before I get onto it. Cracking picture by the way. Reminds me of being a kid whilst dad was out welding trailers back up.
  9. I've had a spaniel get problems decoying over rape stubble. I was watching the combining in work it got me thinking. It is amazing what can be in a crop. Though I believe they are allowed to circle the field anymore; they have to leave a corridor to the hedge.
  10. I asked because it felt a bit risky. I guess the problm is as well that the ground has to be jard to harvest so you're not going to working in good conditions.
  11. Maybe just stick to my original idea of buying a couple of long nets.
  12. It does seem an obvios thing to do.
  13. I'm just thinking aloud. But does anyone follow the comdine with the lurcher? I've done it with the 12 bore. I know weather is and issue.
  14. I always enjoy your pictures mate. If I have half as much fun with my dog the next few seasons I'll be happy.
  15. Ah, no problem. I wasn't being argumentative I was just curious.
  16. I love seeing stuff like that. There is one in the village that keeps bringing rabbits back for it's owner.
  17. She just did a perfect retrieve through cover (ignoring being a bit hard mouthed) sent her and left her to it besides a gentle recall whistle. Emereged 30 seconds later.
  18. I guess it is a fine line to walk. I am nervous about her drive to work. She is keen, but reluctant to work proper cover.... I would like to see the difference between her and workingstock she is stood next to me now ragging a stuffed toy.
  19. Cheers all, I have fell lucky that a butcher's daughter rents my dads stables and I can meat cheap. She doesn't know the game yet but I reckpn by 18 months I 'll have her clicked on.
  20. I can't wait. I know it is a long road ahead. But I have had a lot of fun training my bushing dog, now the basics are in I feel a can bring another alongside.
  21. Wel I've done it, put my name down for pup 1/4 saluki, 1/4 grey 1/2 whippet. Just a 7hr rpund trip to fetch it. Might have to fit a fishing trip in alongside.
  22. Just thought I'd post an update. My misses slowed me down saying I am expectin too much from a 6 month old pup. But she caught her first rabbit, no great story of over-achievement for her age. Just a hamster sized one that squatted rather than ran. Retrieving is good to fair. Though I guess it isn't my main aim with her. Just had mooch with her on some land riddled with rabbits that aren't hunted and she made me smile diving through nettles and grass after them. She hasn't got the blind drive of my mates patts. But I think I can make something of her. Just over 14" and 6.5kg at nearly 7 mon
