  1. A good set of pictures there mate, who needs a ferret!
  2. lurchers looking nice tozer, was the plummer newport/pontypool way? Cheers, so far she is what I was hoping for, lovely calm dog, you can't raise your voice to her. I picked up the terrier from Cambridge way, I believe the dam had come from Wales. The terrier is doing well, she has her faults, but I like having her about and she is only young.
  3. It is a long story but a responded to a 'Plummer terrier' advert on preloved. I think there is Plummer in there but she isn't a Plummer terrier.
  4. That looks photo shopped, funny if it isn't though.
  5. She's 3/4 whippet 1/4 saluki mate.
  6. Was the Peugeot poaching? no its French I ask because it always dawns on me it is all well and good going across the fields, do many get stuck? especially doing it in something like that you can't exactly go and knock on the farmers door and ask for tow
  7. Spot on, good quality nets. Ordered Friday evening arrived Monday morning. Cheers.
  8. My pair terrier is 11 months and the whippet x is 5 months
  9. I'll be keeping my bitch until she finishes, but seeing these spaniel terriers, I'll be picking one up as my next dog when I'm ready.
  10. Give me a few years and i'll settle on what I need but a hardy whippety type is very appealing.
  11. She looks like exactly what I would be hoping for mate.

Cheers, she is a bit leggy, but not bad for a busher. She is coming good, been trying her ferreting too.

The dog on the right is my 5 month old runner. Left of that is my plummer type. Middle two are the farm JRT. Left hand white based terrier is dads, litter sister to mine. Two completely different dogs in temperament and build.
  14. 1996, I was 11 when I got a weird brindle half jack russel bitch that lasted until I was 27 Got a job on a chicken farm at 14, that dog saw thousands of rats in her time

First success bushing (without a shotgun). I understand bushing is very different to flushing rabbits to the gun and I have been working on what I am getting wrong, walking the dogs a lot, and encouraging/allowing them to work together. Had a conversation with a farmer and nipped over for an hour this afternoon, he's got two belting terriers about 10 years old now. Just intended on lifting a couple of bales to stop a couple of rats not much sign and only 1 rat. Ended up walking the bits of hedge we could away from the game crops and the terriers managed a good kill, got to witness a fe
  16. Video of her around the warren: http://vid78.photobucket.com/albums/j98/Tozer559/MVI_1074_zpsumuw15pi.mp4
  17. I've got some vids of bushing, but all you really she is poorly shot videos of hedge and a flash of a rabbit!!!
  18. Not at all, she can be, she is very eager to please, in all honesty she isn't like a terrier at all. Has a good nose, can take a directional retrieve (not perfect). She doesn't push on far, but is keen, pretty hard and built like bull for what she is. She is 14.5" tall, just come out of her first season. She wasn't digging at the holes or making a nuisance of herself ferreting. My dad has her litter sister, 13" and a much better worker in terms of what you expect a terrier to be, she has started to go to ground, mine is showing no interest. I think they complement each other nicely when bush
  19. Do these offer more than the normal husky type then?
  20. Cheers, I enjoyed that, just relaxed, set things up and put the ferret down. I knew there wasn't masses down the warrens but it is an easy place to have a dabble. She has always been a bit rough with the rabbits and pigeons/crows, I've had her retrieving with the gun and wasn't too bad, but the healthy rabbits in the nets she clamped onto. She's had 2 rats in dads stables a couple of mixy rabbits and a yound rabbit in the grass, so she isn't too far gone to control.
  21. It is 12 month old exactly. Very keen to please, as I found out, jaws like a ruddy vice.
  22. I have let 2 people down I asked to come ferreting this weekend, the landowners weren't keen on me bringing people on, but by asking about I ended up getting loaned a ferret and a locator I only had to spend 20 minutes stopping the terrier thinking the ferret was for killing, I swear there is spaniel in her somewhere. The lurcher pup is only 5 months old, so wasn't much to worry about, just. I think I took her out too early, another month and she would have been more into it, still showing signs of marking, but wandered off. I ended up bolting 8 and catching 3, only had 9 working ne
  23. No, definitely not, it is a smalish young wood, and the pen hasn't been used for 3 years. There are a lot of scattered holes throughout. I shoot it a lot with the air rifle for the last 10+ years, there are several more to go at if this doesn't work. But they seem an idea starting point. Look to be shallow too. I've got a lot of digging kit from ratting so that isn't a problem.
