  2. Awesome dogs but wouldn't want one as a pet. Was lucky enough to spend a couple of days in Sweden with them a few years back. Some were quite racy as you say, and they have got some greyhound blood.
  3. Looking forward to following the pup's progress - should be game as a pebble with that breeding.
  4. So you'd have to show your hare or fox dog working to someone from the council to make sure they are satisfied it can do the job?
  5. Thats a shame... Fair enough at the park coursing but in the open feild, the muzzles will do more harm than good. Save a hare and injure or kill a coursing greyhound.. Madness really.. Not convinced a muzzle will save the hare either - think they suffer internal injuries from being struck at with a muzzle. Far cleaner without.
  6. When one of mine f****d off after a deer the night before I went on holiday I was very glad he was chipped. Fella found him three miles away from where I'd last seen him, took him to emergency vet who scanned him and they called me straight away. He was gone for two hours in all - who knows how long it would have taken to get him back otherwise, if at all?
  7. I don't agree, mps rarely do what their constituents want, they do what the party whip tells them to But the whip will be lifted for the vote on repeal - it will be a free vote, and with such a small majority I can see quite a few Tories bending with the wind, especially those in urban and marginal constituencies, and either voting against repeal or abstaining. A few abstentions is all it would take for the attempt to be sunk. If they do go ahead with it and fail, that will be that - it won't happen again and we'll be stuck with the ban forever. Better to wait until the Tories have a bigg
  8. Love that pic strayshot. I'm assuming 'stowell' means Stowell Park. I went to lots of whippet meetings there over the years. They always had plenty of hares (and fallow!) but from what I remember the 'keeper was a bit of a bellend. He used to insist drives were done in ridiculously complicated ways that didn't have a cat in hell's chance of working. Consequently most of the hares either turned back or slipped out the sides. Very frustrating, especially as he never seemed to learn. Yep, that's right, it is Stowell Park. You are not the first to point out that the keeper there was not the e

  10. +1 i would go to the vets now that you put a pic on here you never know whos reading this it only takes a anti to be on here and you will have the one who think they are the law knocking You might want to change the settings on your Photobucket account too.
  11. Best thread on here for ages. There's a great account of the American bitch Cashel's Evening and her adventure here, it's a really good story: http://www.greyhoundinfo.org/?page_id=844
  12. Lol. As the immortal bard once said: "Come on lads, let's see ur bull Xs" And if that theory were true, surely at least a couple of the plays would have turned up on here by now.
  13. exactly, designer dogs up there with cockapoos and labradoodles, useless and overpriced mongrels. Jesus, it's like the Flat Earth Society on here. Labradoodles are far from useless, they can make very good gundogs. Have you ever seen a silken windhound run live game? have you ??? we have enough shit bred for show and cash, cant tell me the whippet in them is from working lines, and borzois will be show stock too, me ile stick to the flat earth, it works No, I haven't seen one which is why I'm not slagging them off based on no evidence. I do know that some people in the US

  16. Come on, you know that one pic doesn't tell the full story - the blue dog might have done all the work and the other only just got in. I've never seen one of these run but if they use them on massive desert land to run jackrabbits in the US they can't be all bad. A lot of people on here are writing them off without ever having seen one - small minded mentality IMO. Don't see why the cross shouldn't work - perhaps the borzois have lost their fire and drive over the years, but a decent whippet should bring that back to the mix.
  17. That may be the case but there are some in the US that are decent coursing dogs - the dog on the right here is a silken windhound.
  18. Why does it always seem to come down to these two dogs getting talked about on here? Is it because they are owned by publicity seekers and used as cash generators? I'm sure there must be dozens of dogs as good if not better that are doing the business, but their owners just get on and run them and don't look for the hype.
  19. Small boggy fields with stone hedges and a man on the gate. At night. In the snow.
  20. Would you rather see a good long run with lots of action which ends in the quarry getting away, or a quick kill?
  21. I've got the Buffalo River and it's great for small to medium fields. Two hour battery life, nice tight beam and light as a feather with no heavy battery to carry.
