I have a single one of those made by Mr Jackson, no spring just a pin inside a brass barrell, more reliable than the springs IMO.Nice bit of kit, used to use it a lot when we were coursing before the ban. For lamping I use a gun dog rope lead, that way you can run them without a collar.
