@Greyman, You really ought to get yourself on some rechargeables. Not very good for the environment using 20 batteries a month. I'm sure you'd also save money with rechargeables and a charger. The issue with the marketing of many trail cams is the manufacturer doesn't tell you what sensor they're using. Anyone with CCTV experience knows there are certain Sony IMX sensors that perform particularly well at night. The night specialists are mostly designated STARVIS or now the latest sensors as STARVIS+, but even then, certain model numbers have better night vision than others. If dark perfor

Anything that takes down big mice will make a mess of the smaller ones. Have you never seen "The Mouse That Roared?" https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0053084/ Mice can have big teeth.

Provided you like the military look, then that's a nice looking gun Deker. The straight line through the stock should aid accuracy as well.

It's all different tastes. Personally I'd buy this if it were my money because I like laminates and stainless: https://www.czub.cz/en/produkty/malorazky/cz-455-stainless-thumbhole.html That said, the Royal 457 has a nice stock.

Sausage, I agree entirely. Look at knife crime. Solution, lets ban legitimate people from buying knives online or in single units, or carrying knives in toolboxes, fishing boxes etc. Effect on knife crime zero. Pretty much the same as the firearm restrictions. Every time there's an excuse they tighten controls yet it makes no difference to firearm crime because they're cracking down on the people who are legitimate owners not the crazies. Look at the hand gun ban, handgun crime increased for a decade afterwards and only went down due to better detection and policing, not the ban. Restrictions

Unfortunately choosing candidates based on shooting views isn't going to influence the election. There are approx 1 million firearms holders in the uk. Probably 99% are going to vote on other issues, the 1% that vote on shooting issues = 10,000 votes. Spread that across 650 MP's and that's on average 15 votes per MP. Not going to change anything most seats.

Nah those mice guns are foreign. They love you long time.

I'd definitely explore other brands of subs. have to say I'm not a fan of HV's. I have shot them. They crack is almost as noisy as a small centre fire even when moderated and for very little gain in usable range. My choice for .22 would always be subs. If you need more oomph, then a hmr or small centre fire such as a Hornet becomes the logical choice. Where .22rf excels is in delivering ridiculously quiet shots which makes it ideal near houses or at night. If you're needing hv for range or knock down power, then you might as well step it up as even a small step up to hmr delivers considerably

No doubt the antis are screaming murderer right now. But if everyone did this on every piece of land, we'd have the native Reds back in no time. Never seen that either. Makes you wonder if manufacturers are cutting costs in the manufacturing process the last few years either with a lower quality brass bar stock or an shortened annealing process.
-
Yep you could get it re-barrelled and have the trigger kit fitted at the same time. I would suggest looking at .17WSM as it's cheap to feed if you find a good ammo supplier, but there's simply not enough support for it in the UK.

There are some ongoing issues though. Quoting is one. It's very difficult to get your cursor out of the quote box when in, and editing a quote down in size to the bit you want to make the board neater, especially if multi-quoting causes all kind of formatting issues with quote box lines disappearing and appearing in wrong place etc. Often you have to cancel a post and start again, usually abandoning all hope of quote editing entirely. Not sure if it's a board fault or an issue with this version of BB as never come across it on any other forum.

@ Stav, that place looks a prime candidate for someone with a .243.

How much did he improve the value by? Got to be a better style than the original.

There are some loaders around now for rimfire. Very niche activity though: http://22lrreloader.com/design-details/ It's strange how older rounds can be better than new ones though. Usually the other way around with powder advances.
-
Sure there must be some loading data somewhere if it's an old factory round. Failing that, at the very least, you can weight the bullet head and chrono the round before your run out. You should be able to recreate it from there from known tables / bullets as a starting point. I find it hard to believe it's not possible to load something even harder hitting given modern powders.

No shooting for two whole weeks, woohoo!

Yeah they meet up with undesirable men in cupboards: (Pirates of the Caribbean in case you're wondering) -

..and the wife thought it was her holiday. ? -
Maybe he bought it from the Butchers and pulled it off (the head, oops I mean the birds head), so he'd have a bit of a tale. Bit like those fisherman who catch 3 foot salmon in a Tesco bag.

From memory, land doesn't require approval in Scotland, only England. Even then, only if the ticket is closed.

Should get him on Bargain Hunt. Imagine that on BBC 2, the competitor turns up to the auction and the lots are 3 guns and an irate wife.
-
So you like rummaging drawers for old crap in the back.... Pity they don't have them out on display. I'm sure a bargain corner would go down well with new shooters on a tight budget and collectors alike.

Shot could take a head off if still in a ball but unlikely at range and I've never heard of shot ripping skin off with it as the shot ball will sever the skin on impact. As sausage says, it most likely hit a sharp rigid, probably thin, branch at considerable speed during it's initial impact and that decapitated it. You mentioned yourself it was travelling at speed and with a head on shot the branch collision could easily have been sufficient. Woodpigeon have been recorded flying at speeds of over 90mph although more commonly it's much less than that. My guess would be it impacted a branch

Always looks happy. Musty be all that Aciiiid. Oops that's blown it!

Amazing shot. Worth looking at the SlowMo Guys and some others on Youtube. Quite a few gun videos using the Phantom camera to produce super slo mo, although it has to be said, using a full ring of these is unique outside of the effects shoot for the Matrix for bullet time, but that's probably down to the cost - around £100K per camera if I remember correctly.

You can't use fibre with steel shot. Too much barrel wear. The whole point of a cup rather than a wad with steel is it prevents contact between the barrel and shot. There are also restrictions with chocking and steel although I presume you're probably already familiar with those.
