  1. nice one josh!!! hope ur looking after those slip leads i made ya lol!!! see you soon [bANNED TEXT]!
  2. pointer is the man to talk to i have a 6 month old vizsla cross and will be putting a weimaraner over my greyhound bitch...the gwp cross is a very versatile breed of dog good luck in finding one [bANNED TEXT].....
  3. i AGREE WITH WILF ON THIS!!! 7 months is no age to start a dog he shud be schooled obedient and ready for next season! have him out on a few summer rabbis if the grounds not too hard and start him in aug/sept all dogs deserve the right to mature you have a chance of blowing his lungs before theyre fully developed... a puppy is just that and deserves to be so...10-14 months depending on the dog is young enough for any lurcher to be entered!!
  4. if anything its possibly a food allergy or a protein problem....greyhounds suffer quite badly on theyre back ends if the protein content is too high etc...try a different food like a gluten free complete or talk to a couple of food places to see if they have anything based on allergy problems might help! ive seen this with hay/straw but generally its a rash and the hair loss the rash being quite harsh! i know this is an old thread hopefully you have it sorted now if not it may help someone else....
  5. thanks guys how long will it normally last for hes already got his sick note from ferreting tommorow usually about three weeks [bANNED TEXT]...use benylin to help theres not much a vet can do when mine caught it a few years back i used baytryl to prevent secondary infection and a anti hystemene called voren...it helped alot....altho if its not a terribly bad case you can usually ride it out!!
  6. If ur looking for a dog to work and live a little as a family dog the vizsla is probably the best breed for you(my opinion)theyre a very gentle layed back breed the gwp can be a little too headstrong as a family/housedog...the vizsla is a far more versatile hpr!!!
  7. Hadn't thought of that. I have read that flat coats can be "slow to mature". Are working golden retrievers more slender than show trains like working labs tend to be compared to show labs? its finding a working strain retreiver....as for the flat coat i know a guy who has some close to me mike addison horrible w a n k stain of a bloke!!! i wouldnt kennel one for fun!!! useless aggrssive hard mouthed and thats just the begining lol..... they were the most popular retreiver in europe during the 1920's theres a reason theyre almost extinct now!!! for a peg dog look no further than a goo
  8. better off buying in galvanised pannels and just bolting the frame to the wall then just get a raised bed made or a box for them to sleep in!!!
  9. looking good mate....just an idea how about a removable board to go on the back...that way in the colder nights and winter you can stop the draught whistling through then in the summer you can have the back off to give em some extra sun!!! looking good whatever you do!!!..i do think you'le have some bother with the wind and cold tho specially your location mate

  11. i dont really see the point in the shooting for sport side ive done it on beates shoots etc....id rather get a point and flush the bird with the dog...for me its the dog work 100% i get loads of sport beating and my dogs get more work and training than most...we also have more sport than the guns shooting could ever imagine for them they live theyre lives shoot theyre days and it takes them away from it all... us were hawking lamping rough shooting ferreting doing all sorts i guess we shouldnt knock them, they proibably cpuldnt see the point in lamping or some of the things we do...
  12. some pics of the damage would help i have a bitch hits hedges like theyre not there...rarely damages herself is it a reoccuring cut...get some pics up so we can give you some advice mate probbaly if its a reoccuring cut a good lay off might be on the cards???
  13. Can you tell me which law this is exactly? I'm not convinced. il check out the dog law handbook its in there somewhere im positive....i remember the old dogwarden using it sometime....il try have a look in a bit!
  14. No offence mate but that is a load of rubbish. There is no law relating to 15 feet, and there would be no excuse in law to shoot a dog that wasn't under control, unless it was in the act of worrying livestock (not gamebirds), and as a last resort. Read the above, criminal damage.... the 15 ft law relates to dogs being out of control its why the flexi leads go to 15 ft anymore than that they contravene the law...ur right about the guy shooting them however once its done its a little too late...one or two things could be done a. kick the shit out of him or warn him ur gunna cause him
  15. bottom line if your dogs are running around in a place you have no permission to be then you are at fault by law your dogs have to be on a lead or no further than 15ft away....running loose on a footpath is also against the law...you dogs are deemed out of control in a public place...you could be taken to court by your local authority...not being funny just stating facts as i see then..its what i deal with every day(dog warden)be careful altho he has no right to shoot them once its done its done you probably would have to take him to court for any loss as it would be a civil offence....a case
  16. not as long as the person knows what hes doing sometimes its better to start with an older dog whos done nothing than a younger dog whos been wrecked.... the 3 yr old mustwork let go would have been part or fully trained anyhow....quite often les has stuff hes brought on to sell later...
