  1. all depends on the dog dakersgazad usully around 10/12 months if ur on about a border type it could mature a lot later, other than that dont give em too much, you could start a dog slowly around 8 months just dont cook it,too much at that early an age can spoil it,good luck just be careful, spend more time on obedience cos if ur ratting around farms you want something that doesnt show you up also take the time to break them too ferrets,as a good dog will always know right from wrong!!
  2. Well said ianb some of us aint as gifted when it comes to writing, and need the benefit of the doubt, just goes to show how outta proportion, things can and do get!!! just wish you all the luck you can get,and good luck with the terriers, personally id start on rat if you want your terriers for fox dont bother with rabbits,as it gets quite embarrasing when you spend 2hrs diggin one out on a hunt day,you cant beat rats to start young dogs with...
  3. I agree with everyone else so far dude to have a working terrier dog aggressive is rediculous, normaly the dog aggressive dogs dont make the grade in the field anyhow, usually dont have what it takes, find a nice quiet honest dog and you'le be away, get an aggressive dog and nobody will take you out and show you the ropes thus ending your very short terrier career!!!
  4. most problems with chips moving can be a number of things, mainly what you do with the dog afterwards, the dogs trust recomend no bathing,no brushing ,no serious excersise or swimming for a period of at least two days, this then gives the chip a chance to settle, theese days it generally isnt the chipper as long as he's been taught correctly(i.e between the shoulder blades)before this prossedure was changed most people chipped too high on the neck shoulder area thus ensuring gravity took its course and the chip then usually strayed p.s i think charlie has contributed well to this topic and should

  6. I agree molly, sometimes chips do move,i've found them in dogs, shoulders, legs,on their backs, chest area's even had a greyhound once with a chip on the side of its foot,im interested in tattooing, also the guys in oz/nz freeze brand,if an org was set up here maybee that would be worth a go,once again the police just dont care they have procedure and dont follow it,i've just started something in my authority were we gonna restructure the way things are done, because mistakes are being made all the time...Gary...
  7. Thats unbelievable Charlie,i work as a dog warden, and scan dogs every day, have returned a lot of dogs to their owners, its amazing that this has been overlooked at the end of the day if a dog is chipped and the details are correct, then that dog is legaly the property of the owner,i get a lot of dogs chipped with wrong information tho,it costs a small fee to change any information, just contact petlog,i know petlog wont give information out to the public,i as a dog warden have a pin no,and can only get information using that no,maybee if they had informed the local dog warden he could have sorted
  8. Whatever you get make sure you get one with agutting hook,i've got a shrade its shit hot buck knives are very reliable cracking steel they definately have some with gutting hooks, got a gerber as well, very good knives, the serrated knives are brilliant for every day use but for gutting in the field a hook knife just can't be beat!!!
