  1. Apologies Rowan, I misread your question. I haven't handled a windsor - but I hope that if you buy one, it's as good as it seems in the shop.
  2. A tidy second hand beretta, browning, winchester 101, miroku etc would be a strong buy. Or an aya no.4 or no.2 if you're into SxS guns. The windsor unless you can get a second hand one for under £500 IMO
  3. My advice FWIW, whack 'em in the spring when they're doing most damage and easier to catch a call bird. Best of luck though
  4. Sounds great, what optics are you using for your long range work?
  5. Can I order 10 putanges, pack of spare triggers and setting pliers please? Pm me your paypal details and I'll pay today Cheers
  6. Some forces are faster than others. If you add in your location, someone might be able to give you a rough estimate.
  7. I dislike the term 'predator control' that you can see described by most of the large organisations these days. The BASC,RSPB etc. all use this description. What's wrong these days with calling it vermin control? Maybe the word vermin is too strong for the British public? Yes they will argue that predator control is a more specific term - but the only predator species we can control are vermin.... Maybe I'm being pedantic, but I don't like it one bit.
  8. Don't worry about using new traps vin, they don't need weathering. Set them right and you'll catch. Fenn 6 or cages for squirrels, and a kania or two if you're feeling flush or doing loft jobs. For mole traps, usually duffus or talpex but make sure you get decent traps, cheap ones are shite. The mole catching dvd from fourteenacre has a good reputation if you need a head start? Hope your training goes well mate and good luck. Trapping IMO is the most rewarding part of general pest control
  9. Sometimes I feel like saying to this type of customer "if you know so much about catching moles why don't you do it your ******* self?!" Maybe I should?! But you're right nicepix, as long as they're paying and keep calling you back is all that matters. On the other hand, some customers are a joy to work for - suppose you have to take the rough with the smooth.
  10. £45 for new customers, £40 for regulars here
  11. I know the guy round here who used to work for the council pest control dept. now works for the private company it was outsourced to. Hopefully you'll be fine mate.
  12. Maybe that's the problem, it does get some punishment this time of year. Trouble is, I haven't found anything that does the job better than a DR5 despite its' faults.
  13. If/when it blocks up Dido, keep the trigger depressed and pull the pressure valve until all the airs out. It will depressurise inside the poles as well as in the tank. You should avoid or reduce any spillages and exposure that way. Frontbum, yes I get that even with new ficam but only inside the smaller flexible brass tip, the wide bore straight nozzle doesn't seen to play up often. Bloody annoying and yeah it's not good in front of customers! I'll have to try the pebble/golf ball thing. At this rate the only original part on my DR5 will be the feckin' tank!!!! It is a cracking tool wh
  14. I find the DR5 brilliant for dusting, but it can be temperamental at times... I've replaced the pump, pressure release valve twice and all the seals a good few times. This morning, I find I've got to replace the trigger 4 new heads and 5 new handles springs to mind.... Joking aside it is quite annoying and getting to the stage where I wonder if it'll behave itself when doing a job.
  15. I also use the standard poles with the DR5. I use up to three poles. Any more and its too much weight on the trigger thread IMO. Standard poles are good especially if you don't lose the end caps Haven't seen the xl8 lance, will have a look on killgerm's site.
  16. There are thousands of web designers out there, you can find them easily through google. Yes you'll have to supply all the info, so basically they're paid to design and create the site. Try to get a deal where you can edit details on the site yourself. If you don't get this, you'll have to pay them every time you want an update to your site. When your site is being built, don't pay them the full amount straight away. Keep a percentage back until the site is up and running to your satisfaction. Once a web builder has your cash, they aren't so helpful and friendly any more...... Unless y
  17. Yes we get shafted on price in the UK, but where I can I try and get a cheaper deal from other companies. Today I saved myself over £70 on a new 5L sprayer by shopping around However, if I'm stuck and need something in a hurry I find SX are brilliant on their next day deliveries. They may not be the cheapest but they've got me out of the shit when I've needed stuff in a hurry!
  18. Got one from Ian a couple of weeks ago, and bought a seperate IR torch to go with it. It's fantastic!!!! Brilliant value for money. No footage unfortunately, but if I get a recorder at some point I'll put it on the forum
  19. Thanks for that mr. Muddy. It's good to see the usual pestie qualifications will still count. Whilst this group, 'wildlife aware' have good intentions so to speak, until they heavily restrict public use of SGARs they are on a hiding to nothing. Do they really think the public use rodenticide according to label instructions and if we're talking difenacoum/bromadiolone, there's no/little difference between professional use/amateur use product. I don't disagree with this new approved certificate scheme, but it's worthless if it doesn't apply to all user groups - in my opinion anyway
  20. There's a lot that can go wrong with setting your traps, doesn't matter how much experience you have, we all make mistakes even if we don't always realise it. Subtle things make a lot of difference, and I'm still learning even though I set hundreds of traps every month. When I have difficulty catching a mole, the only thing I can do is take a good look at the situation to figure out why I can't catch said mole. My traps are top notch, so what else can be wrong? Only the bloke setting them Sometimes you need to accept you are at fault and re-assess, but don't buy into the trap
  21. Yes, there's a reason and you need to figure it out. All part of the fun. If your traps are up to scratch, it's something you are doing wrong. This is how I approach a tricky mole. I always assume it's a mistake I've made. Once you catch the villain, you can move on and be happy for a while until the next tricky one comes along
