    Why do people think it was wrong to catch hares on the lamp but thought it was fine to catch rabbits, fox etc on the lamp? Usually these same people seem to think it was fine to catch breeding and pregnant hares I would have much rather seen a hare caught on the lamp than shot but would not tell a man who was shooting them he was doing wrong The lurcher world is full of hypocrites and from what I can see a lot of jealousy

    that would be collie yes? Yes if I wanted a dog to fill the pot and catch the odd fox, if I was out for fox's only and expecting the dog to take them a few times a week a half cross bull

    Whippet 99, Iam a fan of both bull x and collie x. Ive seen enough of both types run to know which I would of prefered for fox on the lamp

    Fox on the lamp rarely if ever bounce or make a mistake on a hedge or ditch when they get there they are threw usually without any hesitation there gone On the lamp, dogs that pick there shots trying not to get bit will miss more foxs than they catch A good fox dog will strike asap and take fox regardless of getting bit ETA: Iam talking preban.

    Watched the clip and TBH thats nothing less than I would expect from a collie x its the way they are, in all fairness collie x are pot filler's not out and out fox dogs If a half x bull or similar did the same that would be a different matter because they are or should be fox dogs

    To me it reads like the reporter has jazzed the story up to sound better as they quite often do

    It is hypocritical for any person who holds the hare in such high regard to run the critter at its weakest while mating, pregnant or nursing young and use the excuse of "bringing a pup on" Pups need success and easier catchs to build there confidence which can be achieved in ways other than mugging mating and baby animals. Unless causing a nuisance I think all quarry should be afforded the luxury of being allowed to breed in peace

    Mugging pregnant and baby animals is not for me A few easy runs for young dogs can be got at the begining of the season just as easy
