  1. I agree with you on above ,but just because of pure size and weight every time a red stag is the daddy ,I've seen a few dogs single handed take and hold down a fallow buck in rut , I've lost a dog too to one in rut ,but I think you would lose a dog every time if it was one on to one with a red and the red wanted it and wasn't going to run.. Yes I agree with you on the red stags I dont think any dog is capable of taking red stags single without a fluke not even a malamute or malamute x greyhound
  2. Fitchet if you feel strongly enough to put muntjac in higher regard than roe fallow or red thats up to you but I dont If your talking of aggression? a fully mature fallow buck would be top of my list they can and do kill dogs Ive never heard of a dog being killed off a muntjac? if it has happend it would be a fluke a muntjac bites to try and escape not to try and kill the dog In the rut a fallow buck will stop running turn around and physically beat a dog to death because it can
  3. Thats the thing with animals You start to generalise them and they seem to have a knack of making you look stupid .... What do you mean exactly? There was always going to be deer of all species in the UK that could and did straight line make any lurcher look poor. I thought even the most "stupid" lurcher folk should be able to work that out? but then again on second thoughts
  4. This is the order I would of put the six species in, the hardest to take is last in the list. IMO the right lurcher was capable of taking all consistantly single Cwd ... Sika ? Muntjac Roe Fallow buck Red hind
  5. Enjoyed the vid but iam still not going to get a mal x grey
  6. riohog your obviously a big fan and have knowledge of saluki but you dont seem breed blind
  7. blackgreyhound are you still intent on acquiring yourself a mal x grey?
  8. There looks to be a world of difference between the saluki that is worked in the deserts and the show stuff Ive seen in this country The saluki that are ran in the desert to me look a lot like the coursing dogs in this country that are ran on the fens
  9. blackgreyhound your not convincing anyone of the merits of mal x or gsd x
  10. Nice buck rabbithunter you should call yourself deerhunter
  11. CWD can make plodders and slower dogs look poor but a seasoned lurcher that new its game could take them without much fuss, they were starting to evolve and become a little harder in places where they were regular ran.
  12. Oh deer, nice pictures rh and tjones.
  13. Some folk class any male of the deer species a buck or a stag which in the sense of the word is true, when I refer to a buck or a stag I mean fully mature deer in there prime not prickets or yearlings also this lamping vs daytime argument IMO an educated deer is just that be it day or night, to refer to them as easier gives the wrong impression they can be EASIER day and night depending on a few factors. To name a few factors.. time of year, ground, how often there ran, age and condition, distance of the slip.
  14. Pre ban which species of deer would be the hardest for a lurcher to take single consistently? I dont think a red stag can be took by a single lurcher consistently so I would say fallow buck Did anyone have a dog that was doing them consistently? My second choice would be red hinds I think a good deer lurcher should be able to do them consistently.
  15. Your not trying hard enough if you cannot get any 4x4 stuck 90s are reliable enough if they have been maintained and are maintained. There expensive compared to some other 4x4 on the market is the high price tag warranted..... IMO its not
  16. Makes me wonder if these laws are brought in to protect pets or make vets and the goverment more money?
  17. The grey blood seems to wake the saluki up from the coma it goe's into while CHASING.
  18. That's deep man lol. Does that apply to whats written on the hunting life though The hunting community
  19. A doubting Thomas is a skeptic who refuses to believe without direct personal experience.
