  1. Yes I agree, for larger dogs to much or rather to high to soon is not a good idea. But they can still be learned to jump over smaller obstacles young without any problems.
  2. I cnt spel dos that make me less a dog man No just shit at spelling
  3. These hancock threads don't half drag on Some very interesting points of view I don't like the sound of some dogs choosing runs after a few seasons Ive nothing against hancock or his methods infact I say best of luck to the man he makes a lot of his customers very happy but I would much rather source a collie cross bred dog from lines which have been tested for a few generations with lads who are getting out there and doing it week in week out season after season
  4. You havnt fooked up mate they can still be learnt to jump from 18 month onwards
  5. The kevin and perry stage can be the most testing time even for the most experienced dog handler PP I would learn a pup to jump way before 18 months other than that your on the right track
  6. With the amount of pups he breeds he is going to get weak or problem dogs, probably at times surplus pups what is he supposed to do with them?
  7. Good post tiercel, simple really if you don't like them don't buy.
  8. Since the ban there seems to be a lot more undesirables who have entered into lamping Seems to be the fashion to have a bull x a 4x4 sniff a few lines then go and abuse the countryside
  9. Lurcher but there used to be some handy non pedigree whippets around the colliery villages around 20 years ago.
  10. Nice story good to hear the old fella is sorted after his loss Hancock knockers whats that about are you wanting to start an argument?
  11. Some do some don't, I don't know of anyone who used a running dog with fox as the main quarry use saluki types
  12. Don't take it personal mate you crack on and ask as many questions as you like that's what forums are for
  13. Pre ban there was absolutely nothing wrong with running summer roe bucks as they are in season
  14. Is it dubbed with the spaghetti western music to protect your secret calling technique?
  15. Does it matter as long as there doing the job? think your maybe missing the point, i imagine most folk are reading between the lines and getting a little hint of sarcasm No sarcasm intended matey I am missing the point?
  16. I regard anything over 27 as a bigger dog, I prefer them from 25 to 27.
  17. Does it matter as long as there doing the job?
  18. Its nice to know what is in the mix but fractions have never really concerned me that much Never really known that much emphasis put on fractions until I came on these hunting forums worker to worker has always been the most important thing to me preferably from a few generations of such if there line bred even better IMO If I had to choose fractions it would be half cross more specifically generation half bull greyhound to generation half collie greyhound making them quarter bull quarter collie half greyhound preferably from a half bull dam. I have had the pleasure to watch some righ
  19. The only difference between the two is the words line and in.
  20. Bolted rats out of rabbit warrens before, when one was in the net or rather going threw it I went to grab it and realised just in time
  21. John Wick bred brother to sister 5 generations in a row and never once had a single problem. He never had a super star either but not one problem and he had the money to do it so he kept every single pup in every litter and hunted the hair off them. Dan I am a big fan of line breeding don't understand genetics much at all though
  22. You can pretty much breed as close as you want the first time, try the same again and there would probably be a problem or two.
