    There is a lot of land just like that in north east england,a dog has to be fast and tight running to keep on them,a lot of the time you need a dog that can box them up and really put the pressure on,get some good exciting runs on this type of rough land

    'Blown to bits'? That's a very emotive way of describing some shot hares. It's a bit like shooters saying 'Torn to bits' when talking about dogged hares. Neither is a correct description, nor do they do anything to help. Agree with you there matt,think it's an easy thing for a coursing enthusiast to become sentimental over hares,very natural predator/prey fieldsport,survival of the fittest,sometimes not just for the hare either atb

    Maybe not as much of a headache as someone else's adult dog,you never know what some of them have been put through,ran too hard,and caused some organ damage when unfit,no proper livestock breaking etc,things like this may not be apparent until further down the line,and the short route turns into the long route

    i wasn't talking about driven shoots, and to say that the hare population would recover if shotguns and rifles were totally banned, surely you can't believe that. when you see hare shoots take place on the fen .and driven shoots at that . hares in the hundreds being shot .on multiple farms and estates both in lincoln .norfolk .cambridge and peterborough .every year .you then realise what effect shotguns are having on the hare population .then on top of that you get the night time shooters .dogs do nothing to the detriment of a healthy hare population .its farmers and game keepers that have

    Soak meat overnight in saltwater,rinse and dice hare put in casserole dish with onions,carrots mushrooms,packet of colmans beef casserole mix,slow cook in oven about 6 hours simple and delicious

    It is'nt all just big wide open fenland over here jigsaw,there is plenty of hill farms with dry stone walls,, double barbed wire fences,thick hawthorn hedgerows etc,you never hear of lads catching big numbers of hares on the small land over here,not single handed daytime anyway

    As long as whatever quarry caught is put to good use and not just hunted for sport to be left to rot,does it really matter if it is taken day or night,it is more likely you would get a more challenging run for the dog in the daytime,but lamping is more about restocking your freezer

    Thanks mate yep surprising how they can throw to different breeds Was thinking that too. That dog could have looked like anything.     Nothing easier than to persecute the common man,and his simple interests,I have wondered if these antis have anything of interest in their own misinformed banner waving lives,I have seen too much destruction of green places in the so called name of development,huge office blocks sitting empty in the hope that someone might want to rent it at some time,and the miserable new housing estates that are thrown up almost overnight,same old story money talks and everything else can go to hell
