Some say we're a nation of shopkeepers I say pasties, real ale, a good fire, and wool, the tent can look after itself
-
Have a look on the canvas tent shop, and the bell tent boutique websites mate, there's the green arctic military canvas ones aswell, they're bigger and more costly bushwhacker man on YouTube has one, you can get an internal liner for winter use
-
They're alright mate, they need seasoning anyway with a few times getting wet then drying to expand the canvas, but if you left one up for weeks or months you'd have to treat for mold, if you're near trees you could put a ridge line up and use a good sized tarp for protection against rain
-
You could try a campsite where they have the canvas tents to rent out before deciding whether to buy one or not
-
The canvas bell tents can be used in winter with a wood stove, so another option, but you wouldn't want to carry one very far

Timothy Taylors Landlord is a real good ale, four times beer of Britain

A bergan is a military rucksack, tougher than an average hiking rucksack, you don't need much to get out and about mate, but if you get more into it you'll find out what works for you. Lundys wildcamp/ adventures, and fell wanderer are a couple of canny YouTube channels to have a look at, all the best
