  2. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-34071492 So much for the Tory pledge to curb immigration after years of saying it was too high under the Labour government.. Just goes to show how much real control those in power have over what's happening.. We're being flooded, not just us but Europe in general. EU migration to the UK and non EU migration to the rest of Europe which will have a knock on effect. They're kicking off in Germany, it's being put down to 'far right elements' but I'm starting to wonder how much of that is accurate and how much of it is the general public getting fed up. I read s

    Lazy Greeks??

Corfu Gnash. My mum goes to Sidari there every year, we went with her this year. My brother went there last 2 or 3 years back and the barman at the complex we stayed at remembered him by name straight away. Pretty impressive I thought when the place is flat out with people in and out from march to october every year. Lovely island Corfu.....ive never been to Sidari it used to be the clubby part i dont know if it still is.....cracking place but then ive never been to a Greek island i didnt like. More a family place now mate. There are still a load of clubs and cocktail bars, but

    Lazy Greeks??

Of course mate, but when they got work they work hard and for long hours, that's what I was trying to say. That's probably why their economy is struggling with the euro- their way of life is a million miles from somewhere like Germany where there is steady work of a totally different nature happening 365 days a year. Years ago they probably enjoyed the off season because it gave them a respite, but now when it comes they're worried about being able to afford the basics like food and power.
  9. Ditto mateIts got to the point where I'd happily do what you done and feck off if I was in a position to do so.

    Lazy Greeks??

Spot on Wilf. They all wanted expensive cars and things like big TV's they couldn't afford etc, well I didn't see a fecking thing like that. They're all happy enough to ride round on 20 year old scooters. Most of the locals I spoke to didn't even bother watching TV or go on FB..
  11. Cheers bud, I love them! Some more interesting ones on the island here and there, will try to track them down next time I go back. Hopefully see a few wild tortoise as well and some live snakes. Only saw dead ones squashed on the road!

    Lazy Greeks??

I did mate, really good! Food was as cheap as hell and really good and the service there was exceptional. They even still have pump attendants at the petrol stations! I'd move there if I could..
  13. While in Greece recently I was taken aback at just how hard the locals were working. There was a guy who cleaned the pool and mantained the complex we were staying in, he never stopped apart from going home for a few hours in the middle of the day. No matter what time you got up he was there with his brush, hose or tinkering with something. I even saw him at 4.30am one morning hard at it. He had a couple of young daughters with him, and they worked just as hard as him. Wasn't just him, they all do it. Bloke behind the bar at the complex was an avid shooter. I got talking to him and him, and he
  14. Bollocks to the lot of them.. Totally disillusioned with politics and the political system in this country and beyond..
  15. That type of water always fetches out the locals. TC Fetches off the Townies if they ain't careful and all!

  17. Probably to with the rules of whatever clubs own the fishing rights to various stretches of the river..
  18. The grey ones are mainly seen on the rocks or rocky paths, the green ones among the grass and plants, which makes sense. I see them at all times of day, but mainly when I'm walking the dogs on the morning. In the spring the young ones come into the house very often. When you see one with prey in its claws its brill. Efharisto!
  19. I love them! Saw a big green one in Corfu when I was 13! Is there any sort of time of day or areas that are best to see them in? Like type of plant, sunny spots, shady spots, time of day etc?
  20. Crete, I live here.Very nice! Looked for some mantids when I was in Corfu recently. Couldn't find any but I know they're there!
