    Hello my mate in Aberdeenshire has seen a buck rutting on tuesday & i saw a young buck this morning chasing a doe.I also saw a big buck in hot persuit of a young buck but no real sign's of the big lad's rutting but if weather hold's think i could be on here in Angus by next weekend.

    Dont have fallow & never shot fallow but would leave unless it looked unwell but it would give you an idea of other's around or poacher's about.

    Hello i use spring's but also bore 11/12mm hole's all round the bottom of the drum as 1-5th of the wheat left round the side's of the feeder with the spring's.

    Sorry to hear & some damage to the scope too.What if it held for a short walk to a highseat then gave way or when climbing or going over a fence.Good to remember to unload your rifle when doing so you never know.

    Hello remmy i have used it & think it's 1 of the best stalking rifle's iv used but as localyokel said fox on ticket could be a problem.It is a big cal for roe but iv had clean beast's & it put's them down.As people say a heart shot will run but iv had more roe run with 243 than any other cal unless head or neck shot.I got on well with speer 100g spbt or 85g in 243 or 87g v-max & that worked for me & put them down but the v-max could be hard on them & it's realy a varmint bullet & a topic on another form said that they arent realy legal for deer.

    It's realy easy to do iv done load's.Best thing is to cut it to your desired cut which make's it real easy then to clean after boiling.Once cut place in a bucket of water for 24hrs out of harm's way of dog's etc.then boil in a stainless pan if you can as soda crystal's eat aluminium & do it out side.Only boil the skull not the antler's & boil for 15/30min max depend's of age of beast & skull mass.Then place it in cold water for 2/5min & then clean it out & scrape of any flesh you can or give it a blast with garden hose.Once you have cleaned it get peroxide i use 12% from ha

    I just have roe on my own permision but can get odd red's at friend's place's.Dont have fallow here in my area just roe.Where you from gavmac?

    Hello Dave you were realy lucky as it has been so quiet here & the bick lad's have just come out the wood work here.Iv started to see that other old buck regular now so might get him soon & i would like to get some pic's of the 2 wee saw when you shot your first buck but glad you had fun.Here's more pic's for you. Forgot to say that wee saw a mature buck chasing a doe that night too so rut might not be far away people. A real good old buck to get dave here's them in larder. My mate's 2nd buck with me & the burger's from it wee made. .

    Hello had a 243 for year's loved it but fancyed a change.Wanted to be able to get slightly heavyer bullet weight in rifle.Thought of a 260 but expensive & a custom job.I now have a 25/06 which i homeload for but it's a 243 on steroid's & can go from 75g to 120g bullet's ideal for britian.It is also flater shooting than 243 so i find it very versitile as a fox/deer rifle it is growing very popular here now & i have put 6 people onto it 4 off keeper's.

    Hello 2000acre is a fare bit land & if you get all that in writing from land owner's or sporting right's holder's then push the boat out & go for 3 rifle's with mod's.I would go for 22lr/17hmr & a 243 as it make you deer legal in Britian & you can buy or load light ammo say 70g etc for foxing & 100g for deer.An FAC would give you & your land owner's a bit more lee way for dealing with stuff & you will want more rifle's once you get into it so go for the 3.

    Hello my question is about 243 homeloaded with 70g bullet's legal in england on roe mainly but other species of deer included.I know in scotland it would be ok for roe but is it legal in england to use lighter bullet's in 243 on deer?.

    Hello Oly this will be a good thread as these are match round's & i guess not legal on deer/vermin under the condition's of you FAC.I have used them in 22.250 & they do expand but they are a soft match round & not classed as expanding i think .I would think again that you would need a 1-9 twist for these bullet's but nothing ventured nothing gained.Im sure someone will know better than me on this but let's see role on the debait.

    Hello my mate got some when they first came out & couldent do any thing with them.Thay looked good & the write up's was good but our end result back to 87g v-max.Our local gun shop tryed them in 243 too & he was the same & wont even stock or sell them & even if you ask to get them he say's trust me NO!.I was think of trying them in 25cal 117g to play with & see.Dont know if here or on other site's but [bANNED TEXT] asked the question on them & i said stay clear & load's of people said great love them good on deer etc but i no longer have 243 to try again.

    Hello i know this is diffrent but 37gVARGET with 87g v-max sorry never tryed 75g in 243.Varget is a good powder good coverage of bullet wieght's but is a new powder to me but i got a new tub for a £10 & look to try it in my 22.250 or 25/06.
