  1. great john... heres the hunting sound of the uillean pipes to make my hairs go crazy down the back o my neck.....lol A chara..... Snap.
  2. a dogs attention span is very short, and when he does come back, and you scold him he won't know why.... hence why he stop's short... for fear of you.. keep it fun keep a few nice treats with you, keep on a long lead if need be to start, and recall, when he comes give him praise and a treat... do not over do this routine, keep the training times short... treats should be at hand as soon as he comes to you.. and praise but not to excessive... the dog will think on recall that treats will flow every time he comes, simples.... just takes time... Snap.
  3. Agree with the above, any shottie will start you off, but be careful not to introduce the dog to the shot too quickly or close to it, or you'll end up with a gunshy dog... Good luck and i hope you have a good time out there.. Snap.
  4. looks like their on their way to their nice new summer coats....
  5. lovely looking mate, have you decided a name for him yet...? Snap.
  6. Sage there was someone on here doing that work if i remember correctly, cannot remember his useername for the life of me... i'd say there is a market for it, and for the extra 40 quid to refinish an old stock does sound good... i'd personally send a few fliers to shooting ranges and clubs.... then you'll gauge better just how viable it would be. Snap.
  7. Hi mate, i personally dont like the .270's And my friend that bought one brand new, sold it about a month later....!!! you'll want something fairly light to lug after reds if your going to hill stalk and this will cause a little more recoil and muzzle flip... gun's i woul dbe looking at in the range are the tikka t3, browning a-bolt and the sako 85... it WILL knock your quarry down for sure if you do your part, but i just found it not a nice calibre to shoot personally... Those that have a .270 on here may advise better than myself but this is just my opinion...
  8. Doesn't matter about the eyes mate, identify the target, not the eyes, then you know its safe to proceed with the shot, ATB. Snap.
  9. hi there, i love springers mate, little bundles of energy.. What line's he outta...? put a furry teddy in beside him or wrap up a jumper as stated, radio may help, or put a clock in wraped up in the jumper, should be right as rain after a few days.... Good luck with all the training..... Snap.
  10. george your not gonna take rabbits at 150 yards with a .22lr, but you will with a hmr, but the price difference in ammo is the down side.... also whats left of the bunny...!!! Cz get my vote for outta the box accuracy, and build wise they are excellent.... look at the 452 models.... Ifs its your first gun i'd recommend the .22lr to cut your teeth on..... Snap.
  11. truely looks like a good haul... nice one.. Snap.
  12. really like the third pic, i'm sure its a part of the family by the looks of things.... ATB. Snap.
  13. yep.... i'd go for 8x42 also for stalking...... a good compromise of weight, mag, size, ATB. Snap.
  14. the 32s were having bother getting into a 4" group 2 would group then the other3 were miles off havent tried the 39s yet but wewill get something to suit hopefully im not after perfect groups for comps just a round that will take a fox out clean up to 200-250 yds max atb Very strange that the 32's wouldn't shoot well....? but i'm sure the 39's will do you proud... happy hunting. Snap.
  15. just some reading on the subject.......... Indirect Exposure to Rat Poison Secondary or indirect exposure to rat poison occurs when a dog eats a rodent that's fallen fatally ill as a result of the warfarin or similar anticoagulant toxin. "When a rat eats poison bait, he will not die immediately. The rodent will wander away and he'll become fatally ill a day or two later. The dying rat will be easy prey for a predator like a dog or a cat, and when the pet ingests the rodent, he also ingests the toxin," explained Dr. Michael Levine, DVM. Unfortunately, an uneducated dog owner
  16. shoot the 40's at 250 or 300 and tell me the difference, you'll see they may be tumbling.... Not wanting to be negative or a put down, but good accuracy at 100 can change dramatically at 200 if the twist is borderline.... with the 32g i've seen crows explode at over 500 yards.... reloads.... but the factory ammo is of a good standard shooting 1/2" in the m77 my mate had...39g blitzkings are the mutts in it........ happy shooting.Snap.
  17. Unless he took a good bit of the blood from the rat not much, warfarin, thins the blood to kill the rats, and could happen to your dog, most rat poisions work this way.... admin an injection of vit k1 if you think your in doubt. you should notice the dog of his/her food.... maybe swelling of the belly, ATB. Snap.
  18. The 40's will be borderline in the factory twist, the 32's, are excellent, my mate had the m77 and was sorry he sold it.... it was a tack driver.... ATB. Snap.
  19. Sorry catcher mate, i forgot to say i like the first shot....
