  1. Listen lads why the fook is there a slagging match going on here, we're all here for the enjoyment of the sport be it dogs or rifles we're on the same side........REMEMBER that because most of the nations are willing us to fail in what we love most country pursuits.............. DO the riflemen complain when you make a kill with your dogs and slate you for it? i think not............... Pest control is always a problem...........and the fact that there are so many says so. i shot a hell of alot of one farm last year, and was stunned to see so many back again this year So dig if you dig shoo
  2. yes the zesis conquest is the nuts for the money, take a case load home and you'll make a mint if your not caught at customs
  3. scrap the lee sclaes, they are pants no harm too you.......... rcbs 10-10 scales are good, or anything by redding, why don't you just buy a good set of electronic scales and be done with it........ it will speed up the most teething job in the reloading process, which i find is weighing the charge.........
  4. They are both tools to be used, simple both dog and gun sometimes together, Now there are skills in both but i'll justify my enjoyment in shooting, Now we go out set up the weapon zero it at try to achieve consistency, be it in shooting group form, reloading or just plain plinking, satisfaction in knowing that something is far away and you can send a bullet to it and hit it, then at range, practising at getting onto the target be it paper or fox, magpie, rabbit, the latter are means of control, and i do it for the local farmers who need it doing, in return i get permission to shoot or walk
  5. Nice one GG, good account, may there be many more to come...............
  6. welcome mate, hope you enjoy the site..........................
  7. this is the script a new irish band and the song is never of the radio here in ireland so did you hear it and what do you think..... i think its not bad. got a catchy little beat to it............ try this the link is fooked http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=qw-J8kC5DHo&feature=user
  8. if i can't shoot a group 3/4" or under @ 100 yards then something is up with me or the gear.... i'm not happy until i achieve the best accuracy possible for my gun..... In reality anything an inch or under, at 100 yards is more than ample for stalkng........ and considered good shooting............
  9. Correct FD. sure it gets us out ofth bed in the morning...............
  10. thats the one im after to replace my mtc viper not manly because it has higher mag but because the optics are brighter. and i want a standard crosshair so it isnt clutted for foxing. dont get me wrong i shot foxes withthe viper at close to 200 yards at night but i find you dont need that croshair for foxing on a 22/250. and most likely you will find you wont have it on full mag anyway mine where shot on 12 mag yes i would love one of the top scopes from the above makes i just couldnt aford it right now so i will go for the zeiss conquest as there about the next best thing but ov
  11. excellent, good to see you bagged one when you were in god's country.............
  12. Sound's like he's a gentleman to throw out an offer like that.......................hope you enjoy it.......keep us posted
  13. spray on skin, bandaid are making it at the minute i think, its breathable, and keeps the dirt away from the wound leading to quick healing, failing that use breathable steristrps and pads........clean in a saline solution.......
  14. Well ian, i have a leupold LRT 6.5x20x50 and have no peoblems spotting foxy at long range and getting him for that matter........but to be honest if you go for the zesis conquest its every bit as good a scope at a hell of alot less money...........
  15. Simple, stick with your .223, its a better calibre.........nuf said
  16. 95% of my shooting is done on the bi-pods. be it form a wall or ditch the bonnet of a jeep, 5% on shooting sticks......... and any other means necessary...........fence posts etc tree trunks...
  17. Nice one........... looks a fine evening for it in the pic well done............
  18. 500 rounds isn't that many, but before you commit take a few shots with it just to be sure, i wouldn't worry about a few little scratches on the synthetic stock, the sako 75 is an excellent model, and some say better built than the newer 85.......... So if she shoots good then you got a fair enough deal but then again you may squeeze a few pound out of him yet before its all over....... best of luck, 2000 rounds should be do-able no problem as long as your not firing hot loads all the time some people say the .243 i have should only be good for 1500 2000 rounds i have a hell of alot more th
  19. thanks alot for the advice! I will most prob go for the .270 or the 6.5 becuse after a coupe of staking outings I will be joining a syndicate in scotland which has red and roe on it... its £600 for the year which you can split in 2 payments, sounds good so i will prob try it for 6 months first, good thing about it is you can take a guest up for a tenner! anyone intrested let me know i will pass on details! Given the choice of the two cals. i'd personally go for the 6.5x55 it's a great round and has proven accuracy, a few i know who had the .270 traded them in as they just didn't lik
  20. Hey Gez, I don't profess to know alot about deer stalking but i've been at it a while now, i think your going down the right route mate, building the skills with the rifle is the most important step you will take as without rifle skills nothing else matters.....So marksmanship will be your best and first skill. once you build the confidence with the rifle you will know weather you can or can't make the shot.... Good luck with everything and i hope you enjoy the experience along the way..... snap.
  21. Go for the light recoil rifle as this will get you confident, i would recommend the .243 to be honest, or if your not too confident with this cal. then the 6.5x55. Is the next cal. of choice.......you've got to ask yourself this........what species of deer are you most likely to hunt......will the .243 be ample for these then yes....... light recoil and an excellent varmint cartridge to boot...... If red will be your main quarry then i suggest a 6.5x55.....if you lack experience.......the .243 will take reds no problem BUT shot placement is critical on large animals......as with any cal. b
  22. the bug will bite you now mate, well done you must be a natural at hand calling then, because i sound like i'm trying to suck a pea through a straw............... well done..........
