  1. hornady, or another good quality progressive press of the same quality, i don't think lee do a progressive press but if they did i still wouldn't buy it...... lock n load gets the vote for a popular progressive press..... i don't think you would get a dillion progressive in the uk? good luck on the search
  2. redding BIG BOSS...........need i say more great piece of equipment
  3. did he enter onto the land if so trespassing he may be, as he did not have permission to enter onto the lands, just a thought as i don't know your laws. but if everything is above board with you guys then he would have a hard time taking the dogs from you i would think.
  4. just after seeing you don't have a chrono So your wasting your time as your bullet drop will not be accurate......... the loads in the reloading books are shot under factory conditions and with a standard length barrel which will be printed at the start of the calibre you are reloading for............ you could be as much as 300 fps down on the factory quote.
  5. go to stevespages on the net and download the lee shooter program, it's very easy to use and accurate..............
  6. Being on the green isle i cant help you out mate but someone will be along soon to sort you out i hope.........good luck, nothing more exciting in my book bar one thing.....................
  7. http://www.border-barrels.com/ Right i always shoot in the barrel by 1 shot 1 clean for around 10 rounds, then 3 shots for maybe another 10 followed by 5 shots by 5, the barrel will need to be well cleaned after each shot, take your time, To clean out the oil in the barrel i always use a dry patch first, followed by a bronze brush then meths on a patch give it a good clean, then dry patchs until they come out clean, 3 in 1, and WD 40 are to heavy a grade of oil, i would recommend you get a tin of dedicated gun oil..... if going to shoot straight away leave the barrel as is or if not
  8. the sounds is a bit poor on the link but she does sound good,
  9. firstly there is the question of barrel quality, Is it a cut rifled barrel or button rifled? Shooting .308 standard loads in a good quality barrel, looked after we're talking anywhere from 4000 rounds up alot depends on the demand put on the barrels by either means of cleaning etc...... Shooting targets the barrel life will be alot less...... Standard .243 barrels anywhere from 2500 rounds up, i've got a couple of thousand more and it still holding reasonable accuracy, but i do notice the heavier bullets opening up shooting the same load, Alot of variables to take into consideration, So
  10. drive a pailing post into the ground and get a gallon of molasses, from your local agri supplier, just pour it on the post a little at a time they go mad for it..........
  11. lightforce lance and battery pack will get you sorted mate.....................
  12. nice clean shots well done lads.........
  13. John you CAN get the .243 for vermin only, As this is the way i went to start with, if you got plenty of land, just say the foxes are causing trouble at the farm at lambing and you need a rifle that is capable of taking them at extended range with ease...........plus that and you may be geting a deer licence inthe future............
  14. jumping down onto the deck of a trawler, while trying to get to work, 4ft jump, Landed on a bit of rope, twisted an ankle heard a snap, but tore every ligament known to man, then spent 3 months in crutches, and 2 months trying to walk on it, that and a collapsed lung 2 years ago......... I can still feel the pain in my foot an odd time yet.................. i passed out with the pain thank god
  15. yes i think he was fed on GM grass, welcome to the forum mate, what neck of the woods are you in,
  16. i use a leupold 6.5x20x50 LR/T mark4 M1 http://www.leupold.com/tactical/products/s...20x50mm-lrt-m1/ check the link.... i run my loads through a balistics program and check the drop on the range.......... sometimes it needs a little bit of tweeking sometimes not.....
  17. border barrel, surgeon action, jewell trigger, mc millian A5 stock, badger ordinance 10 round mag, and badger ordinance bolt knob, and then i'd put a bid in for the hornady company, oh forgot a us optics in 4.5x14 or similar....................
  18. Well i hadn't planed on going out but with the ammount of phone calls i've been getting at work i had to make a move and that was last night, but my lamping partner could only manage an hour as his girlfriend is only after having a baby, SO with her permission, We headed of to were the problem area was, we stopped the jeep to lamp a problem field and three foxes were not 50 yards of us and bolted into the woods...... So we drove around the far side of the wood got out lamped and nothing put the caller on for 5 mins and foxy came in like a rain out of the wood i had to shout at 60 yards to ge
  19. i agree riflecraft has to be learned, but if the tools mentioned make life that little bit easier then i'm all for them, as for fiddleing, not once you have a system in place, i agree also with not letting what your shooting know your there, hence giving you time to range and dial, Now once you start to pass the 300 yard mark with fox then the rangefinder comes into play........ plus the fox thinks he's at a safe distance and doesn't pay much attention to the light.....range adjust BOOM.......it's that simple, Here's how i do it, find out the drop of the bullet to say 450 yards, write the
  20. lapua brass, 48 grains n160, not sure of col. cci BR primers, and 129g hornady sst's......................
  21. did you try any other weights of powder, change the C.O.L. try the recommended col in the reloading books first. changing powder weights first is a must to see which weight gives best accuracy, then adjust the col. how is bullet concentricity once reloaded. are you using good seating dies. All play major parts in the accuracy process................
