  1. Not a problem SS i'm just trying to help you out..........i was wondering how the hell you managed a 2.5" drop at 200yards......... that wasn't a dip in the last post by the way...............just an observation...........
  2. save your money, unless your looking to get on paper, which you should be able to do with bore sighting anyway........ if not to confident try zeroing at 50 yards to get on paper first................. practice.....will be the best thing you can do.
  3. i have shot the hmr since it first came on the market, and done all my research here, just look at the drop tables for the .17hmr........... with a 100yard zero i might add
  4. there should be no problem getting them as i'm only after getting 500............
  5. the drop at 200 yards with the .17 hmr is -8.54 inches, or if using 1/8 moa scope 34 clicks, if you zero at 100 you will shoot fairly flat to 125 or 130 yards and be 2.59 inches low at 150 more than enough to get you started......
  6. i believe that the .17 fireball rounds are expensive in the states, but the can be sid for all new rounds, yes it indeed is a fast little round, but will still be sore on barrel life, not much good on vermin largr than fox, and the bullet will change direction or explode if it contacts grass, it also has major trouble with wind at range.....
  7. Nice read there martin, shame about the others but as you say, they will be there for again,
  8. around 100 yards is the limit on the hmr........or slightly futher, you just don't have the killing power, never believe most irish gun dealers they would sell you their grandmother.............. maybe he is thinking of the .17 centrefire...........to 200............
  9. just to add you should shoot it in, clean after every shot..... for between 30 to 50 rounds or more if you fancy.............seeing its a new gun second check the scope mounts, all screws etc on the rifle also..............the shop may only have put a bore sighter on it enough to get you on paper.....
  10. Growing old gracefully..............Not................No only joking, really to someone who made me feel welcome the minute i came on here.......with a great sense of humour and always fun no matter what.............keep on smiling girl......
  11. john no difference in accuracy really, yes once the lighter barrrel heats up the group will indeed open up. but for everyday use the lighter barrel will do the same job.......heavy barrel are ok for target work or something which requires lots of shots in a short space of time. If the heavy barrel is causing you pain i would have no second thoughts about changing to a light barrel........... i will send a pm to you about semi-custom work.........
  12. Welcome to THL......................
  13. keep at it kev and welcome to THL..................
  14. try here..............http://www.rimfiremagic.co.uk/
  15. the Hmr entry point is extremely hard to find unless you stand on the carcass to see the blood exit the wound, the bullet will not exit unless shot at a very close distance....

  20. the reds don't seem to mind the rain that much, but i find the best fallow stalking time would be after two or three good heavy days rain, all the fields beside the wood we stalk to seem to be packed with them...........
  21. Nice one mate............ happy shopping
  22. yes you can reload for shotgun, but it's not worth the time or the effort i find personally, however with the .223 the .243, and the .308 you can reload, my advice is get yourself to someone beside you to show you the in's and out's, the .243 and .308 are relatively easy to reload for, as they are not as picky about bullet powder combinations as some calibres. how expensive depends on how much you want to put into it.......... main criteria are a good set of scales, good set of dies and patience, you can start off relatively cheap, and trade up as you go, is it worth it hell yeah.... you
  23. it's a free licence to hunt deer at the minute, you just have to have enough land to shoot on the apply to the dept. national parks and wildlife. however there are courses being run at the minute to which every stalker will have to have it done by 2010 i think it is...........but its more a money making scam i find as if someone fails the shooting part of the test they can simply try again by paying a fee until they hit where the bullets need to go............
  24. I have a Nissan X-Trail, excellent on road and excellent off road IF you change the boots, otherwise useless off road! The Sat Nav is about as useful as a chocolate fireguard...bit of a tarts motor really...but hey...I like it....suspect you may get better help/advice if you post here.... 4x4's, Quads & ATV's if you want cheap try and find either an old sj suzuki or a subaru pickup with a tidy set of tyres it will go anywhere without spending a fortune or a hilux best of luck with what ever you choose a cheap hilux or dihatsu fourtrak, will do the business for you or
  25. What powder are you using at the minute.........i find that 43.6g of vit n160 with rem 9 1/2 primers group slightly over half inch at 100 yards
