  1. Got a couple of geese here mate I got landed with them there free if u want them. I'm near innerleithen
  2. black grouse take to trees quite easily i have seen them on roost occasionally but from what i have seen the do prefer the ground .the are a solitary bird only coming together to lek and breed.
  3. Don't want to put you off mate but its a big leap with no certainty that you'll get a job . college courses are'nt the be all and end all ,try getting intouch with a few local keepers and do abit weekend work if you prove to be a grafter they will no doubtidly put in a good word for you thats better than any college paper . best of luck
  4. Each to there own eh ! if you want to keep a count then do that, if you dont then there you go .personally i do and make allowances for slips close to fences cover etc ,seems like some folk just lik a moan aout anything ,what harm is someone counting runs doing to ya . yis hillkeeper
  5. they have stopped doing there keepering course i think mate .either newton rigg or borders will be your best bet .the countryside courses are too vague and dont go in depth into keepering hope this helps fraser
  6. cracking post mate well done cracking wee dog aswell!!
  7. hi mate where abouts are you ? pm if you want cheers fraser
  8. I am the best . trained a 50 quid spaniel he is spot on gives me a paw and everything lol
  9. leave them be mate, grey partridges will be having a hard enough time this winter without us shooting them. we used to carry round bags of wheat when i worked with them and give every covey we seen a little haep of wheat they didnt take long to find it in the snow.
  10. its maybe the best for deer stalking, but most deffinetly not the best for grouse or pheasant from what the lads i know who have been through there .but it doesnt really matter anymore aslong as you have a college quailifaction you should be alrite .one thing id say is try get a placement with grouse or pheasant interests because thats where you will learn most if not all you will learn in college fraser
  11. Get yourself to borders or elmwood mate its all deer shaggin up at thurso .unless you want to be a stalker but i wouldnt advise it draggin those stincky arse b*****ds over the hill and getting coverd in tick ugghh thought of it make me cringe ,get yourself in about the grouse mate its the way forward lol
