  1. yes mate i see where your coming from but i'm only against them on centrefire calibres...........not against the brand as such........ i just don't think most of the ranges of scope by hawke are suited to a centrefire............
  2. nice going lads, can't wait to get at them myself soon............
  3. i just take the easy way out and photocopy it , and put it in my nargc. insurance wallet......much easier i find............
  4. the 22-250 is the min recommended cal for deer in ireland but licences may not be granted on it , .243 is the recommended cal and anything above..... the 22-250 is a poor calibre for the three species of deer that we have here as our deer are of the larger breeds, the .243 will do you proud, just keep your head and keep shots around the 200 yards mark or less.......what part you in mate? and good luck
  5. Well, I have a 4-12x50 reflex which backs up the anti-Hawke comments as it did lose zero on my 243. Sorry logic but i am not anti hawke, its just from the problems i have seen with them on centrefire rifles have been many.......i am speaking from experience however and when i see a problem i'll simply try and advise, i just don't believe the range can stand the recoil over the long term...... grand if someone is shooting a couple of hundred rounds a year, the lads i shoot with ,and myself shoot in excess of 1000 to 1400, a year through several different cal's...... time will tell...
  6. never post out a letter as they simply don't know who you are, face to face is always best, if you do get a no from them simply say....well thank you for your time anyway.........he may have a rethink or just be checking you out to get a reaction... or if simply NO then ask if the farmer would know of anyone else looking for a bit of free pest control............. if its a yes treat the land and stock with respect and word will travel you will then get more permission that way.......good luck
  7. As above go for the cheaper one, i thought the same on the quality side but having seen both out hunting there simply is no difference apart from the labour cost as above so spend the money saved on good mounts...............
  8. the product you are looking for is called ivomec super, the active ingreident is ivermectin, does not do fleas, but will do all your worming needs, as well as mange and mites, sucking and biting lice too, i would only recommed half a mil thats .5 mil just to clear things up.......... DO not over dose.................... as this could be fatal............ivomec super is used mainly in cattle licenced for cattle only but can also be used in sheep...........do not confuse with ivomec classic..........as this is a pour on dose...............alot of grey hound owners use it local here.......
  9. SNAP SHOT Got a lot of time for most of your posts but the Hawke business is a little too general. The Hawke range of scopes does vary a lot in quality but I am given to understand the Endurance with their Japanese Optics are not only pretty good but also offer excellent value for money! Also know a guy who has had a Hawke Mil-Pro on his Tikka T3 Tactical in .308 for years and is over the moon with it! deker i take on board what your saying mate, but i'm not talking gereralisation here i'm talking fact..................i know lots of lads who got recommended hawke scopes name
  10. the sako 75 (older model) or 85 newer model can be got in left hand, 6.5x55 is an excellent calibre, and accurate to boot, however putting a hawke scope as recommended (not a dig) would be a mistake as they will simply loose zero after a couple of months on a centrefire rifle.......... believe me i know plenty of folk who tried them namely down south of ireland................. save your money and get good glass and mounts.............end off.... hope you get sorted.............
  11. Now if the gun is not too expensive then i would do as ditch suggested and simply bury it in pieces of course...... the other thing is take it into a gun dealer then go to the gardi and explain that you brought it over as a mistake thinking the laws were similar........ or apply for your gun licence, and say its in england with your family and you wish to take it to ireland.....and what then procedure is.... keeping it well hidden until its granted........as the consequences are if caught you will be fined, maybe jail, and never get a gun licence in the state again.......best of luck......
  12. .308 i would recommend for the simple reason many rifles are made in this calibre, it's got a great bullet choice, widely available, easy to reload if you take that path, and is a proven accuracy round....... what more do you want than that.......
  13. i'd say a CZ will do you proud, great accuracy and built well at a decent price, but spend extra, on the glass and mounts as without its just a stick with a pipe on it .17 hmr or .22lr and a .223 or 22.250 if its your first rifle both are accurate and good to 300 and over if you know what you at...
  14. these are extremely well built reliable scopes........the only thing you need to watch out for are knock off leupold's coming in from the far east check for the crest on one of the turrets and the leupold stamp on the objective.........happy hunting
  15. you should clean your rifles after every outing.........and once you see a drop of in accuracy then a good copper cleaning agent should be used.........
  16. just thought i'd let the irish stalkers know that the deer licences have been sent and should not be far away if you haven't recieved yours today ............if sent in on good time that is.............mine's just came through the post this morning........
  17. alright birch welcome to the site mate......
  18. welcome to the site i hope you enjoy it.........
  19. welcome mate..............
  20. SNAP SHOT

i made my bed & i have to deal with stuff when it crops up, yet again kay, yet again..................
  21. http://www.staffs-synthetic-stocks.com/firearms.shtml hope this helps you out..................
  22. thats piss mate, if it shoots consistantly to the left then it only needs the turrets turning to adjust for zero, if you aim at your target and are a fairly good shot then you should have no problem keeping close to target zero.....if however the bullet strike is all over the place then its the scope.........
