  1. in a 10mph wind blowing at 90 degrees the drift is 1.8 inches at 75 yards and 3.3 inches at 100 yards, i'd say the 17 hmr has less drift, if you run the bc. and velocity for both through a ballistic calc. and find out.... i'll stick with the hmr............
  2. could you not do a direct upload from your computer mate...? bloody strange if the file was below 500k.....? glad you got sorted.... is it of the fabled parker hale...? she's still doing you proud..
  3. In most hunting rifles the norm would be around 2lbs.... anything lighter in most rifles used for hunting purposes are unsafe as far as i'm concerned, i've seen light set triggers go off with the person not knowing where the POI was going to be, or they simply were'nt ready for the shot when it went off. to me these are dangerous in any hunting enviroment, range work i've seen triggers set in ounces.... but there not to my liking..... Common sense says to adjust the trigger so that the shooter has total control, and not a guesstimate of when the shoot will go....
  4. they should be fine for the smaller species of deer, cwd, muntjac, roe, i'd not shoot fallow with them as you may not have good enough penetration with them, i'd try the 87g bthp also by hornady, these are after all a varmint bullet, so meat damage will be high, neck shot if possible will be best. snap.
  5. the sako's are noted for their accuracy as are tikka, there will be a few bad ones that get out there, any gun that does not group should be taken back to the dealer for exchange or sorting... good luck with your choice. snap.

    Women

takes two kay.............. i think............ snap.
  7. both guns have proven accuray, and the tikka and sako barrels are identical in build quality, just the sako has a higher spec finish hence the price difference,On a budget get tikka, if not on a tight budget get the sako... snap.
  8. Nice one MR L, glad to hear your getting out there..... No better feeling than watching a long range shot connect, Snap.
  9. As said guys its just to see how i get on making it.... cheers for the input all, i'll let it sit as long as my patience will last....hehe i can't wait to try and make one, thank's all, looking forward to seeing some work from you guy's snap.
  10. Funny you should mention this as i've just cut a bit of silver birch to try and make one myself...... Have to wait to september to get a small set or i'll buy them maybe they are pre cut when you buy.... i'll let the stick season for a month or two and then start the project i think... i'll be looking out for futher posts to see how your doing. all the best. Snap.
  11. old hat eh....... If it does the job, Why change ....? nice shooting by the way. snap.
  12. on averager your going to loss about 15 to 25 ft of velocity per inch loss of barrel, in the .243 don't ask me where but i read it somewhere..... plus pushing at max velocity it is going to be a tad sore on your barrel, i'd suggest using the 58g v-max, or the 87g v-max, at a good average velocity... let us know what you go for... Snap.
  13. Jesus guys theres a recession on........ your paying good money to go on a stalk, paying for the animal if you get one, if it was me i'd be happy with any tip...... And no i'm not tight.......

  19. Thats fine mate, I'm trying to get the point across that this is a hunting site, We should be here to help each other and enjoy each others posts, but i find no enjoyment in anything on this thread, light banter is fine by all means but WILL it end as light banter.... i'll wait and see YOU were NOT singled out by me, i just said this thread needs to be scrubbed........... As it reflects very badly on new members who wish to post any little bit of info they may be thinking about sharing, but with seeing this may think twice..... YOU are entitled to your two penny's worth as I am m
  20. Good site that mate i may just blow the dust of the guitar for a little lesson sometime soon... cheers Snap.
  21. Harry just the sight of those Pro sticks will put the fear of god into quite a few pretender`s on here Well i would say this is the first bit of hostility i honestly, see on the thread by labeling everyone on here a pretender....... Now i'm not bias towards anyone on here, but by keeping this crap going is dragging down a good site in my eyes... i'd of stated the same no matter who started the mud throwing an thats an honest statement. snap.
  22. Think its about time this thread was scrubbed................... do we need this kinda crap...........? Snap.
