Makes me wonder what the criteria is for action to be taken , how far down the abuse trail does a child have to get before social services follow up .Not to act after being informed of possible abuse FIVE times in nine months beggars belief ..I realise they must be inundated with cases and have a heavy work load but surely five reports from different people must flag up a problem that requires a proper investigation … -

Yet the farmers are still keen to draw the shooting rent , years back we had the shooting on a farm of a great hunting farmer , we got that at sensible price ,but only on the condition we didn’t touch the foxes which worked well for eight years until the old boy died and the son took over , his only interest was money , soon as our lease come up he advertised it in the shooting times and was deluged with offers miles above what we could pay ..the rest of the story is as above …

The one sentence I can’t run with mate , in fifty years of shooting I can’t think I’ve ever met a shooting man that’s opposed to hunting , I’ve met a few who didn’t give a toss about it first or last , but never one that was opposed ..In saying that I’ve met a few hunting people that don’t give a fcuk about any other field sport ..and herein lies the problem ..if your not supporting the sports you don’t do , don’t expect them to support you ..it’s the divide and fall principle the antis use against us so well ..we are our own worst enemy ..

At the moment your right Wilf, but when the shooting , starting with grouse and driven game then on to recreational shooting and stalking , has been stopped , the natural progression will be angling .Using the successful divide and conquer technique , first it will be the perceived rich end , game fishing , that will start the ball rolling , after that it’s sea and course ..thankfully I’ll be long gone but anyone that thinks the anti brigade will stop once shooting has been abolished is only kidding themselves ..

You can normally try them out for a week jig , depending where you get them you can also try different makes , some work better depending how bad your hearing is .. Like you I have chronic tinnitus , another joy of not looking after the hearing we got free !

Elastic v hearing aids ..? ..for some unknown reason one side will always become tangled , left or right ,pound to a pinch of shit one aid has to come out to get the mask off …but then throw glasses into the equation and the potential is there for serious cockups ..I need a set of ears the size of fukking dumbo to hold the job together ! .. I’ve got the Siemens ones , my pal over here has just bought the latest ones about €5000 , which has prompted me into thinking about updating my ones .His have got the new directional option so if your in a crowded room or bar they can cut out a lot of the background noise ,they have settings for all manor of other scenarios plus Bluetooth so you can do phone calls and all manor of shit with them , I’m just a bit loath to part with the 5k given the ones I’ve got are pretty good ..

Mine were about a hundred quid shy of £3k ..six years ago ..the new ones are £4plus ..the suppliers are having a proper earn out of them , you know it’s a good game when the likes of specsavers and boots are in it .The whole set up is a cartel , you can’t buy the major manufactures ones cheaper in any country , they are the same price across Europe , uk , and the states .. Sadly for some of us it’s the price we have to pay for being stupid .. As good as the new hearing aids are they are not a patch on the ones you get for free , look after them and you won’t need to iron out a fortun

What ones have you got Ken, I bought the all singing and dancing digital ones from specsavers about six years ago ,when walked out of the shop it was a wall of sound hitting you ,the clarity was unbelievable .Having lost about 60% of my hearing through a lifetime of being an idiot by working without hearing protection while using kango’s , nail guns etc and shooting full bore rifle and shotguns with fcuk all hearing protection , to walk out the shop and hear people talking yards away was mind blowing ..six years on and I’m probably due an update , the new ones have blue tooth ,rechargeable bat

My wife used to teach people to ride , she had seven of the bloody things , her entire life revolved around shovelling money down one end and shit out the other , not to mention the weekly payout to the vet and farrier .. …and there’s the rub , if it was cheap and uncontrolled there wouldn’t be any £1000 stags left ..stalking in the highlands has always been an expensive pastime , it’s a business with everyone from the landowner down to the local pub trying to get a living in a remote place by doing something they enjoy ..the general cost of living is as high if not higher than living in a town and that is the driver of prices ..
