We made a ladder trap for the shoot a few years back , we had loads of the blacks .A keeper pal told me never go near it during the day , always empty it at night which we did & it worked a treat ,then it stopped catching completely .We found out one of the guys on the farm had been "helping" by emptying it if he see any birds in it .they steered well clear of it then .We put it away then for a year before trying again but it was never as effective , they are one clever bird , know wonder the corvids do so well ..

Drove 19 miles to one of my permissions to shoot a deer that had been hit by a car that was stood 200m out in a field .only to find the 243 bolt wasn't going to work in the 308 ...another 19 home ....another 19 back .....19 home again ..lesson learnt ..check your kit properly!

I was just wondering should I get my old mum a lightweight step ladder to cart around with her because I could see her struggling getting up on the wall...she already has a padlock in her bag for locking the bin & always has a couple of 2ltr bottles of Volvic.......is still water ok or should she go the whole hog & use sparkling...?

222 for me ...had a 22.250 great round but again nothing I was shooting was more than about 250 & the 222 with a mod was much quieter .Both good rounds though...

Tmb I bought mine of a mate who was packing up stalking due to ill health so they were cheap ,but if you can find one you wont be disappointed, The extra money is well spent mate .

Wxm if they are three feet deep they shouldn't freeze even if they aren't stream fed.chances are there is already a few fish in there ,I would flick a few small pieces of bread on there & see what comes up .

Hi mate I have a Swarovski range finder ,bought s/hand for £175 four years ago its absolutely spot on ,will go out to 600 m with no problem ,I would think its a fairly good time to get hold of a s/hand one because people are part ex there swaro bino's and range finders for the new all in ones .I was thinking of doing just that but couldn't justify the £2000 ....! Ps .....just changed the battery in mine for the 1st time ,4years out of a battery cant be bad
