  1. Seen some very well grafted dogs at a show this year, a real pleasure to see, all of 'em. Their owner was female, she works 'em and works 'em hard. Seeing them dogs and their owner made me smile, as I looked around the ring at the puffed up, macho tossers standing there with dogs that ain't seen more than a kennel in there fecking lives, reaching down to position legs before the judge...! :whistling: I really don't give a feck what sex is on the other end of a lead as long as that dog see's work..!!
  2. Belated congrats on hitting your 18th Paddy lad. Got your text, i'll be deffo heading up there next week.
  3. CG, without looking on the website, i've no idea of start times but it'll be good to see you there, as it will to see all who added to this thred. Wippydoo, if it was a poor deal last year, or any other, that was because, as Christian said, there were no Terrier or Lurcher showing. I've never been to this one before myself, only because I've seen just about every attraction of a country fair in the 30 years i've been going to 'em and without a T+L show it ain't worth my while, even if it just 15mins away! This year there is a show, we (The MWTLC) were asked to do it as we have ran the Peover
  4. I'm on it mate, sounds like a deal for someone
  5. One lucky mutt there mate, thankfully you were on to it! Good, now I can see him all growed up and ready to 'go'..!
  6. Simply no point in arguing on which is better, each to their own but i'll bet ya all will...! My preference is for half crosses, i've had more fun with these than any other.
  7. After reading this thred I was shamed into finally cleaning my kennels, they were new two years ago and the dogs are going for their annual bath down the canal this weekend, i do like a clean dog...! Same as the rest, it's daily for the kennels. The key is to ensure your whole set up is designed for a fast easy clean, that way it can be done without even thinking about it. In every case of dirty kennels (and dogs, they usually go hand in hand), the design made 'em difficult to clean, hence it becomes a chore and gets left longer. No excuses, if you can't house 'em properly, get out the ga
  8. Yer, the connectors and wireing are shite. Was sold the ciggy connector from deben too, mug that I was, i've never trusted the things ever and always wired my lamps strait to the battery but stupidly thought times may have changed. Changed it after the first outing, loose as feck! As for the battery connector block, it really is poor, my answer, so far, is simply to put a big cable tie around the battery, strapping the wireing down, so if there is any pull from the lamp, the cable tie takes it, not the connector. So far so good..!
  9. Whatever hight he makes i'm sure he'll do you proud, wouldn't mind seeing him 'go' when he's all grow'd up.
  10. Really like the look of that pup DFK, a cracker. Best of luck with it.
  11. Jesus Sinda your tough on boots! That area, round the tongue is a weak spot I always look out for, too many manufactures use a poor grade, soft leather in there and its only either for cost and/or ease of wear. the Miendl I have is the Burma but the old type, though they do have the softer leather either side of the tongue, it is both untreated (suade type) and folds tight away when laceing up. If i was looking to a new pair of boots, i'd aviod any that have become popular over the past few years, Miendl Borneo, Dovre, Lowa Combat etc. All seem to have altered slightly since their popularity
  12. If only these things were that simple....

  14. Suppose a way of life is the best description but then again maybe Stabbas right calling it a habbit, then again, maybe an obsession? All I know is that, I see it more when I can't run a dog, through injury, time of year or sommat. I'm obsessed, watching fields, looking for habitat, always planning, wondering, serching somehow, gets worse when I'm out of the country, it's just something I can't switch off and when I can run a dog, I just do, it's just part of me...! To use an Americanism... 'Go figure'... Cause I can't....!!
  15. Would agree with Skycat here, it is dependent on the dog, or, the dog it runs with. Capable youngsters can do this at first, so excited about a big catch, the retrieve (or the stop and kill) can go completely out the window. Had a half cross once that would do it but only in the presence of his uncle, if we ran 'em together and mine caught, he was off, running hell for leather, growling his uncle off and taking some stick off the fox too, not that that botherd him but it was a pain in the arse, especially if there were another pair of eyes in the field. Best job in that case, single slips for
  16. The Merseyside WT&L Club are looking for a Lure Machine for this Sundays show in Southport. If anyone could lend us one or we could hire one, that would be fantastic. Or, if anyone has a machine and would like to do the racing with us please drop me a pm. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
