Read up on the history mate, start with Walsh's stuff, you'll find they are few and far between. They were around, no doubt, but different areas and different ground produced differing crosses, just as it does today. As much as we have been sold the fable, mostly by Plummer to sell his mates dogs, even he, when obtaining his first dogs, dogs with a very long linage, were of different type to what you would call a collie cross.
