  1. A real sickener Jiggy. I hope the dog makes a full recovery. A dog of mine suffered the same injury over 20 years ago. Same circumstances too! That dog lived and lamped again. Running through forrestry, or any trees is dangerous, especially when a dog gets right up behind quarry and turns it. Its got it's eye fixed and don't see what it's turning into. Broke front shoulders and necks are always on the cards but low lying dead branches and stumps can tear a dog from earhole to arsehole and as you mention, the shock and infection can kill a dog. I hope all goes well.

  11. Yes i see what you mean! handling is good but so long as they are still out doing their job regularly too? Next door have two huge hob ferrets that they keep as pets. They let em out almost daily and just let em wander. They live with fields front and side. Heavy bramble, ditches and open meadow. No barriers or closed gaps... John says that in 30 years of marrage he's never had a dinner that wasn't burnt... Because thats the way they are, always sommat else to do and so, they can let them ferrets out at 5pm and only remember they did about 10, or even the next day! Those pugs always come ho
  12. I've never had a ferreting dog as such. As that job aint my primary activity i've simply used whatever i've been running at the time... Well, whatever cross, the've all been fecking lurchers! Funny but the best i owned was my first half cross bull. He was a cracking marker and had good bunny sense, he always seemed to be in the right place at the right time. To sum him up, he was an inteligent, steady animal as well as being hard as nails. His suicidal strikes usually ensured a couple of bolters in the bag and all in all it was usually an enjoyable and productive day and for me thats all i ne

I have been told there was one in our village a few years ago. Being a bit of a townie twat too, i thought cool, like to see another round the houses and was thinking of getting one an giving it free reign. Then i heard about the dim bird driving people mad pecking at glass reflections and fanning and being a bit agressive toward people, so they say. Funnily it myseriously dissapeared one day, never to be seen again... So my little plan has been shelved for a bit and i'll continue to put my efforts into the planting of fruit trees around the village for all and future generations to enjo
