I vaguely remember Ralph Charles. But Billy Walker was a big name. He advertised Vitalis hair lotion back in the day. It was a non greasy alternative to Brylcreem. He was always game and gave good value in the ring but didn't have much of a defence if I remember correctly.He seemed to appeal to people and became quite a media star because of his looks. He beat some big names but was beaten by some pretty ordinary guys too. Henry used to advertise after shave and "splash it all,over" and Billy would comb the Vitalis through his golden locks. I've never read one post on here that supports driving across fields with 4x4s , damaging crops or threatening farmers. If the cops would concentrate on those arseholes and leave the bloke who likes running dogs and takes the odd game animal then there wouldn't be any complaints from ordinary people like us.

I love to read about the lives of the boxers I grew up watching on the box. A favourite of myself and my brothers was Terry Spinks a featherweight gold medalist. Here he is after winning his medal. I like this photo because it reminds me what a community sport boxing used to be when I was a kid. There's another, decades later when he was awarded the MBE. The third one you might want to hide from your Mrs. I don't know who won the fight. But Terry was definitely second best in the wedding tackle department.

With the greatest of respect to Foreman, he wasn't a gifted boxer and his footwork was, according to Ali, "like a Mummy". He used to drag his "bad ' foot after the good foot lol. But he was just so tough with no reverse gear. He just came forward relentlessly and his punch was genuinely concussive. I used to enjoy his punditry too. He maintained that Lennox Lewis was the GOAT. I'm not sure about that, but he is right up there imo.

Yes I read that two hundred boxers turned up for his funeral. I thought he might be in your circle . He was a ferocious fighter and a hero to many boxing fans especially the East end lads. I can remember him fighting Howard Winston the Welsh champion like it was yesterday, despite it being over 50 years back. Amateur and pro boxing used to be on the telly a lot in the fifties. Then the culture police stopped it. They continue to show the boat race and show jumping though, that's good for us lol. Dick Mctaggart used to be on the box a lot . A brilliant boxer. No he never turned pro.

I lost my identity years ago then. I don't need any religious charlatan to tell me how to behave. Imo, parents should not perpetuate myths. They should tell their kids the truth as they see it. Active church goers are in a tiny minority in the UK and are mostly made up of elderly females. Perhaps they worry more than men. Why should churchgoers and a bunch of dossing bishops in the House of Lords and elsewhere dictate what is taught in schools? It's undemocratic.

I don't think it's a school's job to celebrate any religious dates or ceremonies. It takes us all back to primitive times. When I am fuhrer, all religious clothing and emblems will only be allowed to be displayed at home. Religious faith schools would be abolished. For those offended by this schools actions, when did you last go to church? Aren't you horrified by the child grooming associated with ALL religious faiths? A mate and his Mrs are in the situation. Made them work another two years, plus confiscating the pension payment they would have got. Robbers the lot of them. They should all be required to work in tough jobs every so often to keep them in touch with the real world.

Mike Tyson could only deliver a burger for big George. If ever there was a boxer with mental frailty it was Tyson. He was great at beating lesser opponents up, but melted like cheese on George's burger when faced with a world class opponent.
