  1. I didn't realise that a collie/grey can come with a lot of baggage: heading for home at the sound of an exhaust, a firework, thunder or gunshot. Constantly wheeling, circling totally hyperactive despite plenty of exercise, mental stimulation and work. Mine was extremely neurotic:-hated other dogs and attacked them through fear, fearful of any change in her routine, for example she would foul her run if my Mrs fed her instead of me, every time. I had to sedate her at firework time and even when I went on holiday otherwise she would pine, refuse to eat and foul her run. She also ran hot and cold
  2. I had a border half cross from him. It was so bad it was funny. Drove me nuts. I was wondering whether he was introducing beardie /border types to cancel out the obsessive, repetitive traits that some borders have. Mine was like a full border collie in temperament. I hated the fecker.lol It gave me high blood pressure and probably an ulcer.
  3. Most of the pups that hancock produces now seem to be a mix of beardie/border blood. Why after all these years has he chosen to go down this route? I know he had beardie/border stud dogs donkeys years ago, but they were in a minority. Most of his stud dogs were border types. Any answers? Theories?
  4. Fantastic. Would love a holiday out there.
  5. Tufty, what has Klitchkov said about Joshua?
  6. Just checked the odds. Talk about a hot prospect. Joshua is 4 to 1 on to win a belt by Jan1st 2020.
  7. Sorry, forgot about the impressive Mr Harrison, boxing's answer to pacifism lol.. Be interesting to see how Joshua's chin chin holds out when he's caught.
  8. Don't suppose anyone knows the odds on Joshua winning a world title belt at some point? If they are half decent I would put a few quid on it. I think he's be far the best UK prospect since Lewis.

    Depression

A load of grown men ( and a few twining bitches) whining about 'depression'. Get a grip, man up (and woman up) ffs. Thank your lucky stars you weren't born in the third world. Get off your arses and sort yourselves out you pathetic specimens of failed humanity. Only joking------------------------ it's a tough business surviving these days. When the mind gets sick it's supposed to be something to be ashamed of or something to be covered up. The truth is the mind is the most vulnerable part of your body. When it gets ill everything else fails to work properly. I think life is tougher and more
  10. Do a search. There's some good advice on training for lamp work.
  11. The answer to the difference in height among your litter siblings jcm is in the whippet ancestry. Once you have whippet in the bloodline a proportion of smallish pups is inevitable.
  12. Great video, excellent dog for only 18 months old. What lamp do you use?
  13. Has she had trouble settling in a new home?
  14. The bitch has learned that if she runs flat out on quarry she might have a serious accident. She's just demonstrating intelligence. Maybe she will forget and get her confidence back, my guess is she won't. If you've ever had a bad car accident it makes you into a very careful driver for ever more. Same principle.
  15. I am worried about those guys who ticked 'like' for the video of the two dogs mating.
  16. Do you think the whippet blood has lightened the frame of your bitch? Are its littermates as streamlined?
  17. She looks really streamlined. Any chance of a photo in the daytime?
  18. I have often read on here how, pre-ban, deer/greys were some of the the best coursing dogs before the arrival of saluki types on the scene. Has anybody any footage of deer/greys behind a hare? I would be interested to view their running style.
  19. Jigsaw, what do you mean by 'wicked' when you are describing the deerhound dog of Shanehound's?
  20. The best mooching rabbit dog I've had was a 17 inch whippet bitch from racing lines. She could catch rabbits on a regular basis when they were only 10 or so yards from their burrows. Also the most loyal bitch I ever had. Started to 'shadow ' me on the day I brought her home at 6weeks old. Game as any pitbull and a brilliant house dog. I've got a couple of bigger working type whippets at the moment, I love em to bits, but If I were to get another I'd go for a wee race dog.
  21. Makes me feel a bit uneasy seeing parents/ training/pushing kids into anything. It can work-Tiger Woods, Andy Murray, the Williams sisters, Tyson Fury. But these hothoused kids never seem their own person, they are always trying to please their parents. Let kids be kids.
