Maybe that's the problem in a nutshell. But others who have had no problem with non =saluki types report major difficulties with them. I would love to have a Saluki mix but I'm always put off by stories of 'deafness', disobedience and poor bonding. Apart from my first lurcher, which I ruined by inexperience, I've never had a problem with recall but I am still reluctant to throw caution to the wind. Not every owner of a recalcitrant saluki is an idiot. Selective breeding taking temperament into account would surely help?

f**k all wrong with Barry . You should know that Percival. Funny though, Barrys are usually complete bellends in films, books. Never known a super hero called Barry. Haha......Actually for some reason he's gone through life with 2 names, Barry or Barney........so I even had multiple choice to get it right...:-) Baz and Bazza are my nicknames, right from school. My sons didn't name their kids after me either..but I was pleased.

I've an idea. Why don't Saluki breeders take into account temperament when breeding? If you pair two selectively deaf,Saluki types which show no interest in bonding with their owners, then, chances are. the pups are going to be similar in temperament. Surely the opposite is true. Some Saluki types bond and respond in the same way as general lurchers and are more likely to throw trainable, tractable pups. I'm not saying working ability shouldn't be the main criterion when breeding. Just suggesting that Salukis aren't followed on camel or jeep in this country and we need them to come back! Ev

There's loads of colour mutations bred for the pet/fur trade but it'll still be a Vulpes vulpes the same species we find in the wild. Just googled it. You are right. Some amazing colour variations exist!

Yes. I have mine separate. But the adult frogs still hibernate in the fish pond. Any spawn I get in the fish pond I transfer to the wildlife pond.

I lost a few goldfish and hibernating frogs in the two bad winters we had a few year back. But temperatures were minus 13/14. My small pond is less than a metre deep and all my casualties occurred in that pond. My big pond is over a metre deep and I had no deaths in that one. So the answer I suppose is that most winters they will be fine. For winters where you get arctic temperatures you might lose them in an exposed barrel.

The Fast Show was one of the telly highlights of the week in the 90s. Paul Whitehouse and Caroline Aherne used to crease me. Whitehouse and Charlie Higgins co-wrote it, they created some brilliant comic characters between them.
