  1. Dogs often take after their owners BB?
  2. If I were to get a deer/grey.I think I would go for 1/4 deer 3/4 grey bitch. Just to bring the size down. Anybody any experience of owning this cross?
  3. A dog's own body heat will just keep escaping from its body without a structure to bounce it back. On a raised bed all that heat is lost through the night. A wooden box traps the heat and bounces a lot of that heat back onto the dog.
  4. Bonny dogs..have you got a bitch in mind.? What is her breeding ?
  5. I've read he doesn't work his dogs. I don't know how many litters he sells per year.
  6. GingerBeard on here has had a couple which he rated. Scottish Hare Hunter's is a real looker. A lurcher's equivalent to page three model?,
  7. Nobody has posted on this thread anything about Platts deerhound crosses. Anybody care to ? http://www.davidhancockondogs.com/archives/archive_900_present/912.html
  8. f**k the pennines, true Scottish Highland hills covered in snow.?
  9. Be good to import semen or even proven stock from American staghounds. A lad on here imported an Australian pig dog which he used to track wild boar. Ignored all other game, just wedded to pigs.
  10. As Sir Walter Scott said deerhound lurchers are the "most perfect creature of heaven". Think he was referring to their temperament though and not their working ability. Before you jump down my throat lads, yes there are some deer/greys which do what they should, but they are becoming rarities in my experience.
  11. Me too. There should be a canine version of the Trades Description Act. Pups should also carry a 'fit for purpose' ?warranty. Quite often you see ads reading 'I want to stud my dog'. Who are these people? Perverts or folk desperate for money? The background of a lot of pups is quite clearly not what the seller is claiming. For example the vast majority of f1 deer/ grey pups are brindle ,with some blacks and black and whites. How many photographs of the dam and sire of pups claiming to be straight deer/ grey are actually deer/ grey and even fit the colour expectation? A tiny minority.
  12. I beg to differ. Where I'm from she's a definite looker.
  13. Do you think you go twelve rounds with Katie Taylor? Damn sure she could hammer me for fun. I used to think womens boxing was obscene, but when you see the level that some of these girls are at, and the way they enjoy it and can earn money, Then fair play.
  14. He was the dogs bollocks in Greenwing.
  15. That's fair. But I've never played those sports. Too gay ? Tennis and golf that is.?
  16. Cynical b*****ds,give him break. For your information hes determined to show penance for his previous behaviour and is volunteering 24/7 in a hostel for sexually abused children.
  17. Do you remember you Arsenal fans who successfully campaigned to get rid of Wenger? You know the guy that built "the invincibles". Who signed some of the best players in the premiership for peanuts, who revolutionised the English game and won you cups and premierships and who always kept you in Europe? Yeah that guy. How's your team doing now lads? Just asking?
  18. Aye let's have a drink mate and chew the cud. We might save the world yet.?
  19. Didn't you know THL was the headquarters of UK Klu Klux clan? Don't be surprised if somebody calls you "white trash" or "nigger lover." To fit in on here you have to think Alf Garnet, "Love thy neighbour" Donald Trump. Er, I'll get my coat.
  20. it didn't affect him in a nice way that's for sure. An old school pal of mine gave him a blackeye when he turned up at the snooker club he owned. He lived above the club and Alex turned up in the early hours the morning pissed up and demanding to be let in so he could practice. You may remember Alex appeared at the world championships the next day with a cracker of a blackeye.
  21. I feel really sorry for you. I would have a major breakdown if one of my brothers was so superior to me at any sport. We often drew blood when we were kids even playing table football.?
  22. I went to see the late Alex Higgins play in an exhibition. He was a pain in the arse. Insisted on treating the night as a training session and wouldn't engage with the crowd one iota. He moaned about the table, moaned about the grub and wouldn't sign autographs. As somebody said a "flawed genius."
  23. The gulf between amateur players and the pros is really huge in snooker. I haven't played for years but when I was at my best I thought I was the bees knees iif I was getting thirty breaks. I've never got over 30 odd. Are there any other sports where when amateurs play its like a different game to the professionals? I cant think of one.
  24. The snooker room had an almost religious aura in the working men's clubs. No lowly women allowed. Smoking over the table or resting a glass on the table could lead to being banned from the club. You could also get a clip from one of the older men if you were a young lad for transgressing the rules. I know to my cost. ?
