A farmer local to me wants all his hares and rabbits shooting on sight, why? because he says he's sick of folk driving into his fields and running dogs. Ok I can see his point if they doing damage with vehicles, but running a dog won't damage his fields, and he would never notice hares or rabbits been taken theres so many. But why would anybody want to slaughter everything? So what is the answer I don't know, how do you stop irresponsible lampers / hare coursers from driving the fields ( note irresponsible not everybody with a lurcher ) I guess there is irresponsiblllty on both sides

FD if you have a serious problem with poachers the police will not solve your problem, coming on here giving warnings out won't solve your problem either. There are ways to stop poaching but it means putting yourself on the front line and fronting those that do it and show them that you won't put up with and it's not worth their while poaching your land. Over the years I've come across keepers that would ram you off the road, had keepers that would follow you home and then let you know they know where you live. I won't put on here what they would do to harm the dogs, I don't want to l

Can't Decide On A Fox Calibre

Damn. The catty seem financially viable!I'd be getting 2nd hand and that puts me off the 22-250 even more due to being labelled "barrel burners" As far As cost of a rifle 2nd hand and ammo goes the .223 wins. The fact that I'm only getting one out of necessity, is a big factor. Farmer says just get rid of the big dog foxes if I see one. Doesn't want them annihilated just kept on top of. I suppose come lambing season it'll be a different story. But shelling lots for something that may not get used much doesn't make sense. Which is why I think.223. Less expensive to but on the used market and -

Can't Decide On A Fox Calibre

???? why do think the 223 does it better than the .222? Obviously you have your opinion but after owning both I cannot split them and opted for the .222 everyone to their own I guess To be honest I'm a bit surprised you said that. Looking at .222 and .223 simplistically I have always been surprised how much different they feel to shoot. Both are easy of course, but the .222 is sweet! I settled for .223 though. The .223 carries a hint more energy but for most real world experiences that isn't worth losing sleep over! The difference in performance isn't worth the worry, -

at 250 yds wether you hit it with a .222 .223 or 22-250 the fox won't know what's killed it, and they will all do it at that range. Yes the 22-250 is a devastating round but you don't need to devastate it to kill it. As Deker said don't discount the .243 with a 58g rd it will be more than capable of the job, plus if you ever come across deer you also have the right rifle for that job also. ATB........Del -
Oh I dont know about that, I bet I get to clear the rabbits on there for sure

Lol .........Ditto My excuse is my wrist and leg still aren't 100% and I haven't played since February. It looked like I hadn't played since February 1987. I've no excuse I was sh1t, but enjoyed it.

As i prefer a tall and muscular hairy arsed deerhoundy/collie infused mongrel, ill guarantee a mutt with physique and no jacket will never rock my boat and ill always see them as uglier than what my rose tinted lenses see,s as beauty. So if it don't rock your boat, you just sink another dog owners boat eh?

I will be honest here, Steve them pics don't do him justice. Seeing that dog in person on numerous occaissions he is the perfect example of a racey bull X well looked after and in tip top condition..........and does more than it says on the tin Morton may be correct with his opinions, but I would gaurantee one thing, he would change his opinion after seeing the dog in the flesh.

Getting the feel of it now eh! wise choice staying with the .222

Europe again sticking their fingers in, but as walshie says, Hornady will simply tweak the recipe! Hopefully with cheaper ingredients to bring the price down, If only eh!
