  1. i'd save some money if i lived up your way
  2. Now I do have a lamp alone occasionally but the majority of the time I go with a friend I would say friends but 3 is more than enough in my book and 2 is better..................... I've met a few characters over the years and a lot of idiots but you live and learn. One guy that comes with me is touching 50 and fair play fit as a fiddle I just hope i'm that good at his age, 15 years yet . .................... IT got me thinking if Anyone on here still lamping past the half ton ?

    Carp Soup!!

That does look nice .......................... next time I go to a fishery I'll talk with an eastern European accent and fill a carry bag , no one will bat an eye lid
  4. Would I fork get rid and get something else in . I can't really comment because I wasn't there to enjoy it mate but you were. No field is the same every rabbit can run differently and conditions are always changing, thats why I never tire of seeing the dog run the beam if the dog catches it's a bonus as long a my dogs come straight back if they miss i'm happy
  5. fair play you've got a real talent there
  6. snap............ i've even lamped two nights in a row and still had a light left on

    Ground

you can train a dog to do anything ..............size has no bearing on a dog trying to go to ground I've heard about english fox hounds having to be dug out of the ground and beagles for that matter. there's nothing wrong with jr but as said there is no size difference between one and a patterdale or lakeland. Just put the time and effort in and your dog won't go to ground
  8. They must of moved there because they know there's a cull going on ......... I'd say they'll be there for the foreseeable future mate . They territorial animals by nature and it sounds like those fields are good worming grounds for them so they will fight for them. there is one way to stop them if you want to lamp the fields enough and that is to find the set and lay down some feed in between the set and the fields while it's still light. hopefully they will find the food first and not venture on the fields for worms. ................. A lot of bother I know but if theres lots
  9. fair play cracking pic and even better take...
  10. wrong again i have a dog that would win a race and fill a car boot matter of fact the bitch still doing it, I take it you drive a convertible
  11. I've always thought about that cross but have never heard of anyone breeding or owning one? yeh might get bit better wind, with that bit of saluki in there, sounds like good x Even I was surprised at the amount of stamina the saluki brought to the table in my bitches breeding

    Freaks

I wish nothing but a Terminal illness and months of long suffering finished by weeks of wasting away to watch there whole family burn in a house fire, On the founder of that site. maybe a bit strong but I love my dogs and that KUNT needs a nasty accident.
  14. I've never really been one for lure racing but can see the benefits of a lure to help condition a dog for work.... One story that stick in my mind and always brings a smile to my face is a tale about an old friend that entered his lurcher 23" bedlington whippet greyhound in a race against a fat black lab. we all thought it was a given until the lure moved , the lab was off and my mates bitch looked at him to say what the fork is that you want me to chase. His face went blood red in seconds he still gets a red flush when we mention it now In truth there's nothing to be embarrassed
  15. Nice pup bud and you know she'll be able to go anywhere
  16. That ties in with what I learnt over the weekend . It's the same sort of area and with two eye witness accounts. I know we have all the technology but the majority of farmers are over 60 and don't use camera phones and these are the people the that are out and about the most . I was shown pictures of carcasses which with big puncture wounds and the farmer reckoned nothing would touch the carcass after. The farmer reckons the government won't test the carcass for DNA because of the funding issue. Or to prevent public upraw when it is finally proven that they exist? Thats ex

  18. I would of thought so but after a conversation with a farmer and his wife I can believe it . Out of interest anyone heard of any big cat sitings on the welsh borders over the last couple of years?
  19. No you don't. There is a big difference in the fitness required for ferreting, mooching about, general fitness and the kind I fitness needed for a lot of lamping. I've got to agree with ideation ...............rabbitng man have you ever played any sport it's the same as match fitness
  20. Well as ever folks there's not much happening on this section so I thought i'd try to bring it back to life by asking you all to share a hunting tale or experience with us all. there's bound to be a few old heads out there that have a couple of days that stick in the mind for the right or even the wrongs reasons. I'd love to hear a few story's of the days gone by . many thanks RAW
  21. I went out over the weekend had a few runs. managed to bring home 3 . conditions aren't ideal granted but if we wait for it to be perfect we'll never get out. ....................... and just for the record I was running on cow pasture so there was a little give in the ground. I'm not that driven as to run my dogs on ground that dangerously hard.
  22. spent the day ferreting with an old pro last year and learnt alot. One of the things he was keen to show me was these traps they are very handy pieces of kit especially for thick cover and when your undermanned on a job. they can be heavy to lug about if you can drive to the warrens then i'd say they have a place in any pro's armoury
